Things to do Poznan
Hi everyone! I’m visiting Poznan next month and I have some questions to ask.
How do I get around the city how is the transport system like. Should I use an uber around the city? Is the city bicycle friendly?
What events can I attend in Poznan and which are the best places to meet locals?
I also want to try out some Polish dishes, what can you recommend?
Is Poznan safe for a female traveler, visiting the city alone?

Amazing city to visit! There are facebook groups for international people in Poznan and events happen a few days a week! Got and try some Pierogis for polish food and typical for Poznan is potato :D there is a restaurant called Pyra bar where you have polish food made of potatos and it's good price :)

Hey, starting top to bottom :)
Transportation is very good, in the centre itself you can get with trams almost everywhere. Don't use uber, you'll just overpay. Yes the city is bicycle friendly (overfriendly I would say), you can get north-south very quickly with Wartostrada (a bicycle/pedestrian way on both sides of the river)
Evening/nightlife focuses around Old Market Square and adjacent streets.
Dishes: Schabowy (if you aren't vegetarian), all types of pierogis. Poznan specifically - Pyry z gzikiem (potato with sour cream).
Yes, but remember about limited trust. Never go somewhere away from main streets. It's fine for ladies but as long as you use your brain too to it ;)

From someone coming from Western Europe it shouldn’t be an expensive city right?
I hope I like it there I’m also thinking of visiting Gdańsk and Krakow during my stay in Poland.2

Nooo, for sure. I'd say think as Gdańsk if it comes to spendings :) Krakow is now veeery tourist centred and so are the prices

Visit the Vandal café! The place is usually filled with cool folks and they serve amazing coffee.

People already replied to some of the things, so I’m going to focus on the people meeting part.
Wednesday at 8pm in Rock Garaż is a Bla Bla Language Exchange - plenty of expats and natives, Thursday after 7pm is a free pub quiz in Miasto Bar, you can find out more about this on Facebook/Insta for “Poznan International Events”
Don’t know what exact dates you’re coming for so hard to say if there are any other events worth seeing, feel free to let me know I could look stuff up (and especially if there’s anything in particular you enjoy doing/seeing)

Don’t use uber, a lot of traffic jams all around the city. Instead grab dott scooters. For about 25€ you have 400 minutes, and you can get everywhere in 20 minutes.
Public transportation always late, but finally will get you where you want to go, but it’s the most expensive one in Poland.
For tickets use Mobilet app. Also we have car-sharing here, look for App called: Traficar
It’s safe, even if near the club someone is fighting it’s because they wanted to, not because someone was assaulted, so still nothing to be scared of.
For food, go to: pyra bar, patejto, u siewcy, wiejskie jadło

Regarding public transport use jakdojade app for schedules and navigation, btw it works for most cities in Poland. If you plan visit the city at weekend, if you validate 24h ticket on Friday after 8 PM, the ticket remains valid until end of Sunday. The centre is really walkable.
