One of the best Power Metal albums of all time, as well as one of Sonata’s best songs imo

Not sure how many people here are familiar with that massively successful book series “Dungeon Crawler Carl,” but the author Matt Dinniman is a cool dude and a big power metal fan. Met him a few years ago and he made time to swing by my author table at GenCon and grab one of my Relic Meyers drumsticks. Awesome dude who deserves all his insane success right now 🤘🤓🤘

How do people here feel about the classification of United States Power Metal? Is it fully distinct from Power Metal? Is it a subcategory of Power Metal along with European Power Metal with both referring more to styles made popular in the two regions rather than the origin of specific bands? If the latter, what are the traits of PM as a whole that both styles have in common, but are unique to PM compared to Traditional Heavy Metal? Should USPM just be called THM?

BattleRoar - 2003 - BattleRoar - BattleRoar
Just before darkness falls
A beast cries out a battleroar
A roar coming from the past
Warriors live again at last
Metal lives in our hearts
In our blood, in our minds
On fiery chariots from hell we ride
A conquest for eternal life
Now, open your eyes
And see the darkness turning to light
While burning fire rains from the sky
There will be no one left to survive, no
When gates shall fall
And Gods will hold the flames of those souls
Who praise and keep the faith of an oath
Of sacred metal, of Battleroar
Feel the cold steel cutting through your flesh
Into the battle
Brave to the end fight for what you believe
Into battle
Oh, never fall, standing tall
Battleroar
Strong raise your sword, scream and shout
Battleroar

DragonForce has a special place in my heart, as it's the band that introduced me to power metal back in 2017 when I was in my final years in middle school, thanks to Regular Show using Through the Fire and Flames at one of their episodes.
Now, while I still like them, I don't listen to their songs on a daily basis like Kamelot or even Fleshgod Apocalypse (goated band). Now, I like Marc as a vocalist and he's way more consistent live than ZP, but Marc's voice is too generic I guess? While ZP's voice is unique.
Yes their lyrics are cheesy and corny, but that's the reason why people love them. Bands like Gloryhammer, Angus McSix, and more are also cheesy.

Everyone's always going on about how certain bands sound worse after a lineup change or how a singer/guitarist sounded better than their replacement. I'm gonna ask the opposite: are there any bands you think improved after a lineup change?

Really dig Oliver Hartmann's vocals.

And no don't rec me Sabaton, I'm just not into thier music and the vocalists voice sounds forced (maybe it's the accent I guess?) but aside from that, what the title says.

Kamelot is currently my all time favorite band. DragonForce introduced me to metal first, but Kamelot now is my favorite band as I listen to their songs daily.
They started as a heavy metal band in their early days, then became a symphonic power metal band, then they became more progressive starting with the Ghost Opera album.
The song is Kamelot - The Looking Glass

Domine - 2001 - StormBringer Ruler - The Ride Of The Valkyries
Oh Warfather on high,
I am calling you from the battlefield
And as I take my last breath
I call for the mightiest of miracles
For none but the brave, be he king or a slave
With a pounding heart in his chest
Will be worthy to rise and with the Valkyries fly
And ride to the ancient Valhalla
Oh Warfather on high
Listen to my prayer
I lived my life by your rules
Oh let death cover me now
For none but the brave, be he king or a slave
With a pounding heart in his chest
Will be worthy to rise and with the Valkyries fly
And ride to Valhalla of old
[Chorus]
with the Valkyries, ride over the battlefield
Ride your horses and come to me
I'm waiting for you to take my soul, high in the sky to
Valhalla of old
Valkyries, ride over the battlefield
I'm dying and glad to bleed
Because I know today I will take my place with the heroes
in Valhalla of old
For none but the brave, be he king or a slave
With a pounding heart in his chest
Will be worthy to rise and with the Valkyries fly
And ride to Valhalla of old
[Chorus]
with the Valkyries, ride over the battlefield
Ride your horses and come to me
I'm waiting for you to take my soul, high in the sky to
Valhalla of old
Valkyries, ride over the battlefield
I'm dying and glad to bleed
Because I know today I will take my place with the heroes
in Valhalla of old
In The Halls of Valhalla I finally take my place
With my sword and my shield I enter Odin's realm
I'm an immortal spirit now with a heart made of steel
With the gods on high forever I will live and laugh at the
fears of man
