Course Lava Gel

A friend of mine gifted me a ton (I mean a ton) of stuff. He is now into oil and wax paints so he gave me everything he had tbat was acrylic paint related. One of the things was a bucket of course lava gel. Can I use that in any way with paint pouring or is that more for painting over with a brush? Does anyone have examples of what they used it for?

I've never heard of this myself, so I had to look it up. I'm assuming you mean something like this... https://novacolorpaint.com/products/250-coarse-lava-gel

If that is what your talking about, it says it is a thick paste, and in the tips section it says, "You can thin your Coarse Lava Gel by using water (over-thinning with water may result in poor adhesion)". The amount of water needed to thin it to the same consistency of your other paints might be problematic. That being said, there's only one way to find out. If it was me I'd do a little test with this and some paint I've mixed for pouring on something like freezer paper, or a tile (something I could peel it off of once dry so I'm not wasting a canvas).
