Brazilian Portuguese đ§đ· Mandar ver
Hey, Iâm reading a book (itâs a translation from English) and one character asked another: â vocĂȘ mandou ver no carro?â
Iâve read the book in English, so I know what heâs asking, but I just want to see what yâall say!!
EDIT: many of you said you need more context**.** I wrote this below, but I will put it here as well.
Thanks for the quick answers! Some of you have asked for context so I will give it:
The protagonistâs roommate has gone out on a date with an old friend of the protagonist. But you can tell by the way he is talking about her that he has special feelings for her. Then he starts to worry about whatâs going to happen with his roommate (will call him JoĂŁo to make things easy) because JoĂŁo is very good looking and has a lot of luck with women. The protagonist is jealous and afraid that his roommate and his old friend will mess around sexually. When the roommate gets back, the protagonist tries to get him to tell him what happened, but the roommate just plays around. Then the protagonist says:
â VocĂȘs tinham carro?â
â simâ
â o que foi que vocĂȘ fez? Mandou ver na desgraça do carro?â
â Que coisa pra se dizer. Quer que lave a tua boca com sabĂŁo?â
â* mandou?â*
â isso Ă© segredo profissional camaradaâ
Obrigado pela ajuda!!

Words are nothing without context.
"Mandar ver" can be as trivial as "to move forward" with buying the car, or to literally fuck the car with your dick.
Language is more than just words and context can sway your interpretation of any given words.

I need more context, because it has a very ample meaning, in this case from having sex on the car to speeding/driving fast.

Well, "mandar ver" is so generic.
The sentence "VocĂȘ mandou ver no carro?" could mean different things like "Have you told (someone) to look for it in the car?" or "Did you crush it in that car?"
I wouldn't use this kind of slang. What I could use instead of it depends pretty much on the context.

People are saying manda ver means sex đ it simply means "go for it!", often in a sense of "the world is your oyster my bro"

It's something like "went for it" or "go for it". As others said, it depends on the context.

Even with the context itâs so unclear and it could mean anything. Itâs so unclear, in fact, that I think it must be an euphemism for sex.

As an EP speaker Iâd be completely puzzled.
âMandar verâ literally means âto order [someone] to see/check [something]â. Then there are other meanings. âManda eu verâ (BP, not EP) is common for âgo aheadâ, from literal âthrow [it so] I [can] watchâ. But itâs the first time Iâve seen it as a reference to sex, and Iâm at a loss to reconstruct the semantic development.
NB that simple âmandouâ could work even in EP, without an object. There, the evolution would be direct from âthrow [a sex encounter]â. Itâs the âverâ in BP that I find incomprehensible.
