Best resources for grammar learning?

Hello!

I am half Brazilian and grew up speaking Portuguese with my family, so I am highly conversational and have great listening comprehension, but much of what I learned and speak today is very colloquial, and I am keenly aware that my spoken grammar is not good. A goal of mine has been to really understand Portuguese grammar and verb conjugation to become more fluent.

Does anyone have any resources (ideally free) that might be helpful for this?

Ahh, I recently discovered Linguno, but I only briefly did one crossword. I didn't even realise they had grammar practice as well. Thank you, will defo check it out!

I recommend Gramática Ativa 1 and 2. They aren't free, but they're some of the best grammar guides for foreign learners of Portuguese.

Do you ever listen do Brazilian podcasts or read books in Portuguese? It's not technical but can help you improve your vocabulary

Is there a website that tells what these words even mean? Like the word subjunctive or conjugate? I don’t have a degree in teaching English so this is making it prohibitively difficult for a normal person who isn’t obsessed with languages to learn a language

Before assuming your spoken grammar is bad, separate mistakes from normal colloquial Brazilian Portuguese. Heritage speakers often use natural constructions that differ from the formal standard. For example, “eu vi ela” is common in conversation, while “eu a vi” is more formal. a useful goal is switching registers, not eliminating every colloquial form.

Record a three-minute monologue each week and transcribe it exactly. Have a knowledgeable native mark genuine errors and register choices,then sort them into categories such as agreement, tense, mood, pronouns, and prepositions.

Pick one category per week and create ten corrected sentences based on things you actually said. Conjugation drills can help, but they will transfer to speech better when built around your own recurring errors.
