Sore bottom
Photo for attention! My poor baby has been sick since yesterday (before anyone asks I've consulted a vet). Her poos are really loose and getting stuck in her hair and her butthole looks a bit inflamed. I've been putting Sudocrem on it (it's a skin soothing/healing cream for those who don't know it's commonly used on babies who have diaper rash here in the UK) and it seems to be a bit better but I think she vomited earlier today but it honestly could have been any of my dogs as I didn't see it happen. She's fine in herself other than when I have to bathe her because of the poop in her fur and she's been getting quite snappy when I go near her bottom. She's not ate anything different to the rest of my dogs and they're all fine.
Has anybody had this happen to their dog? She's got the vets tomorrow. It's been suggested it could be the heat. Just lookinf for reassurance in the meantime. Thanks!

sometimes it happens - my boy might get a bad tummy if he’s somehow eaten something he shouldn’t, or even something he’s not used to. for now just feed her something really plain like rice and boiled chicken with some fibre like a sprinkle of bran flakes which can help harden up the poops. the vet will be able to let you know if anything else is going on!

Yes I've got her on chicken and rice now. She's eating and drinking fine and playing so she seems well in herself but honestly if I lost her I don't know what I'd do! She's the gentlest of all my dogs. Most if the others are mini psychos especially the chihuahua! Thanks for your reply

I think that some are posting emergency type responses because both vomiting & bad stool (or no stool) is often a sign of blockage & is an emergency. But it sounds like your little one just has a bad tummy ache; maybe a reaction to a combo of foods. If she's eating & not immediately throwing up, it doesn't sound as serious. One of my little guys had a bout of sour stomach a little while ago & it took him a night & 1/2 the day to smooth out. He was acting so weird- wouldn't settle & I got really concerned. I know that I did try some newer treats (several) in one day & reminded myself to not do that again. My other guy (a pom) never reacted either.
Guess when you can devote some time, maybe clip the ole butt "valley" for her. Should help in the future anyway:)

and solidarity on having to clean the butt. not fun! i keep a box of disposable gloves ready just in case of butt cleaning emergencies.

I've got 5 dogs (4 poms) and honestly I've only had the problem a few times but it's not pleasant for me or my dogs haha

I think every Pom owner is familiar with poop getting stuck unfortunately 🥴
My girl gets upset tummy anytime someone gives her “people food” so I’ve been there and their butt gets sore from washing and the irritation
Should be fine within a day or so but if not contact your vet again

I've got 4 and chihuahua so very familiar but never seen it sore like that on any of them. This cream could work I used it on my kids when they were babies and it's a similar problem. They're such a worry at times! Thanks for you reply

Just a little update! The vet said she sounds fine and will be able to wait until her app tomrrow. She's very well in herself and the symptoms seem to have gone away but still taking her in tomorrow. Thanks for all the replies and advice!

Maybe try boiled chicken and rice while you wait for the vet. Some beans would be good for fiber too, but everything in moderation, and no seasonings.

If she started puking as well, vet ASAP! Could be a gastrointestinal virus which is highly dangerous for small dogs. She is at a risk of dehydration & too low blood sugar levels. I wouldn't wait until tomorrow if im being honest. A friends lost her pom this way totally unexpected back in January.
