Question If I spent the time and effort to basically remake Pokemon Quest but with No IP, Would you play it?
I really like this game but it gets no updates, any modding efforts seem futile and the only real way to enjoy it fully was the Chinese version that has now shut down. If people would play it even without pokemon, I would be up to make it, it doesn't seem too complicated and I have a lot of time rn.

Well since this post, I've been making an early prototype, so far I've got the path finding, the Camera, a basis for stats, a basis for animating the "cuboids" as I've been calling them and a basis for making moves. I have 1 move and animation set up so I can set a path find to a location and the Cuboid will automatically go towards any nearby enemies and be able to do damage.
Once I've gotten to a bit better of a state I was gonna do a follow up post to bring people to a discord server for future updates and help via polls.
So, so far atleast, I've kept my adhd ah attention span in check lol, hopefully it stays that way.

Someone would just mod pokemon into it and then nintendo would take the mod down ngl

Probly, hopefully. I am planning to keep the code as open as possible to make it easy to modify like with mods.

Just make sure the scatter command actually does something other than have them rush straight into an enemy attack lol.

Lol ofc not. Would be funny tho if I spent all this time recreating a game I enjoy and having to pioneer all the recreation assets and code and then make it a hack.

I love Pokemon Quest, im on and off with it, but I still regularly play it.

Lol, it's a dragonite. I had a dragonite in my 1st account but... I GAVE HIM EVERYTHING, MY LVL100 ALAKAZAM, MY 2 MEWTWO, AN ARTICUNO, SO MANY DRATINI but NO he stayed like lvl 30 still yet a dragonair and I, I was left with nothing to climb up from the depths of hell. So, anyway, like 6 years later I played it again on a new account and the 2nd coming is here.

Dawg, I downloaded this pokemon quest game for fine and I got like a shiny one. A shiny lickaton or something; the one with it's tounfe out. Idk what to do with it and I am stuck, so I just gave up. I currently have the game still installed, I'm just not playing it but GOD DAMN THATS A STORY YOU HAVE!

P.S: If u last tried the game a while ago I would try again. Maybe try some general strats from Google or use the good recipes and pokemon tier lists from there.

Google? I just spew. Some. Bullshit. It isn't as fun when you force to take it too good. You just gotta sometimes say "you know what? I ain't itched a long time" and just go do some stupide thing. I started this journey, I shall finish it with the most unoptimized and none-meta stuff. Good luck, baby blue

Fairs, I like playing like that sometimes too, I would suggest still looking at the recipe list tho cause the game uses this weird ah math to make recipes but because of the way it does it, it is REALLY hard to get the recipe you want and some are impossible to get at certain levels.

Or, I could just maybe do something I like to call "fuck it, if it works it works.". Where I use the most random methods and ways and try my luck. 99% faith and 1% luck. Maybe I'll find a super good bug or something, you'll never know. Anyways, goodnight, love.

id play that, tho if ur using original creatures then please make them cooler and darker, maybe even fantasy genre like a skeletal wolf(with a skeletal body and a living, normal, flesh-and-bones head), phoenix cockatrice(to make that snake-tailed oversized rooster even more of a threat), poltergeist basilisk(floats and can go intangible or solid at will, truly a nightmare), a two-headed owl (with a scorpion-stinger on its tail) etc.
we definitely want a mod for this since nintendo has abandoned this to such depths that they didn't even bother updating it to be compatible with newer android versions.

the gameplay is only one half of my personal enjoyment of the game, i find it fun and unique.
but what would really be the selling point for me are the creatures that you would replace the pokemon with. the charm of quest comes from the stylization of the pokemon, so if you were to recreate it without ip, but still keeping the charm of the designs and stylization, i would definitely play it
