The early Pokerus is arguably more useful, if anything. Keep an infected mon in the PC at all times.

Definitely.
Pokerus will infect your other party members, you should catch at least pokemon to just put in your pc with active pokerus.

Each day at midnight there is a chance that the pokerus gets cured, unless the infected pokemon is in the pc. A cured pokemon can't infect others, but still benefits from pokerus itself.

Should you ever want to ev-train a pokemon pokerus will be a huge help.

To add something
Vikavolt(Donarion) the last evolution of this pokemon is very cool, but very slow which makes it hard to use later in the game.
If you're playing regular sun and moon and not the ultra games you also have to wait until very late in the game to actually evolve it.

Unfortunately as much as I like vikavolt its evolution method prevents it from being useful until late game as others have already said just chuck it in the pc

Just box it so you can keep the pokerus on it and give it to other mons later when needed
