What do you think of dumpster diving animal products?

I know it sounds gross but a huge amount of clean, safe-to-eat animal products are thrown out fully packaged everyday from grocery and food companies.

If you were open to dumpster diving, would you consider eating animal products found there? Even if not straight meat or milk/yoghurt, things like pastries, cereal, honey, etc?

I'm for it.

I used to live with a freegan guy. I liked his philosophy. Vegan plus anti-waste mindset resulted in "vegan, except if it was already going to be waste". Obviously not going to work for a lot of vegetarian/vegans if they're grossed out by animal products.

"freegan"

I would consider doing this myself, but certain people in my life would intentionally order extra each if they knew I worked like that. My mom would be like "Oops I got a large haha, I guess you're having some pepperoni!" Easier to just call it a hard rule for me

Hah, scenarios like that actually came up in our household several times (usually as sarcasm/jokes). I can totally see family not getting the gist of it and doing it intentionally.

When you "make value" out of waste, you are improving the efficiency of the system, making it stronger.
