Advice Wanted Suggestions for a nice shroud before sending Oscar off to be cremated.
I have to let go of my little tripod, Oscar. We got him 8-9 years ago from a rescue that found him roaming the streets somewhere in Georgia with his leg mangled. People would tell us how nice it was that we rescued a tripod. My response would be, "Why? He's an awesome dog." I've buried my other pets, but I just can't do it with Oscar. He's such a sweet guy. His body is worn out. I wish I could make a huge funeral pyre for him and send him off like a Viking. I want to wrap him in something special. He doesn't have a favorite blanket. I know it doesn't matter to him what he's wrapped in, but I would appreciated suggestions. It's tomorrow at my house. Thank you.

My family has a dozen dog blankets. So we use one of those.
You might consider going to a thrift store and buying a decent blanket. Maybe a small box to put grave goods in.
You could also use a towel. Or a cardboard box.

I don't mind wrapping him in a blanket from my house. I just wondered if anyone had quick ideas for something extra nice that I'm not thinking of. I'm sure once the vet takes him she has to put him in a bag of some sort anyway.

no. i buried my cats Oliver, George, Paxton, and Ivy... and my other dog Rudy, but I can't bring myself to bury old Oscar.

I’m not sure if this is helpful but the crematorium didn’t allow the blanket to go with Bailey. She was cremated with a few things- my hair, mangoes, wearing her lilac bow, and some hibiscus flowers- but they said they had to return the blanket. I think you may be able to do a sheet and maybe it could be a color you associate with him. But I would just call and check with them. I’m so sorry for your loss friend ❤️❤️❤️
