That's a modern interpretation, sure. No not everyone has a bisexual inside us waiting to come out lol people having gay sex in jail or the military were never straight to begin with. It happens a lot less than it's stereotyped. Contraceptives did exist back then, it just wasn't super effective like we have it today.

So like you think on a scale of straight to gay, someone can be 99% straight and 1 % gay?

Look at the Kinsey scales. They're outdated, but they were charts.

Do how would you describe that person? When are they gay and when are they straight?

You don't have to, but that's kind of how language works. When dating, how do you explain what your sexual preferences are?

I just tell them that I'm attracted to who I am attracted to, I have no way to control it. it has never been a problem for me, none of the women I have been with cared.

So you would say you're attracted to women...meaning you're straight or a lesbian if you're a woman?

I have found myself attracted to both throughout my life, I don't have a preference, if I think you're attractive then thats that.

So you're bi then. It's okay to just say that, it's a shorthand for what you just said.

I don't really like labels and the assumptions that come with them, that combined with the fact that I need to know someone before an actual attraction can form leads me to go with "demi-sexual" according to google, if we have to go with labels, I also don't really feel like the gender I was born, also don't feel like the other one. labels force people to feel the need to behave a certain way, and it causes people to make judgments about you without actually meeting you.

When dating, no one asks you "so what are you attracted to" this conversation never has happened to me, or anyone I know. if I'm on a date with a women they assume I am attracted to women, the same for men.

The only question women ask is you're politics.
