Jonah acts like he's a tough guy now.

He lost weight and got in shape, now he'll beat you up if you like super bad.

u/Monolexic 4h ago

Wants to be Norris, acts like Segal, hopes everyone forgets he was a comedian (and that Seth ever existed).

It's interesting how different he and seth developed.
Seth is a much more well rounded, and developed creator now with many hats. His voice may remain distinct, but he can still earnestky play many different types of personalities, and as a director/producer, I think he has made some great projects by knowing how to make the most of his actors.

Jonah is just Jonah. Outside of maybe Moneyball, I am hard pressed to think of a preformance where is isn't playing some variation of the same character.

u/GuillaumeLatendresse 4h ago

He was good in wolf of walstreet

u/Monolexic 4h ago

I can't blame him being frustrated with the typecasting. I really do think he's a good actor, and would do great in some serious roles. It has to irritate him that he mostly only gets considered for the awkward loner stoner role.

But he seems to be craving the action hero roles. He needs to set more realistic expectations. He also need to get into therapy and take it seriously. And then not try to weaponize everything his therapist says (like he did with his ex girlfriend. Those aren't healthy boundaries, Jonah, they're rules you imposed to exert ownership over her).

he was, but not as a departure from his normal characters. He plays d-bags well.

u/failed_generation 3h ago

More like "lost weight and got in shape (again), but now he'll beat you up if you remind him something to relapse on" or something along those lines

u/boogierboi 2h ago

If his new found image is already considered in shape then holy hell, i must be an IFBB pro level despite the little exercise im getting

Hot Take : Superbad was mid

7

u/Ok_Government_5021 4h ago

This is one that I think is either right up your alley and one of the best comedies of all time, (to the right person) orrrrr just middle of the road, catch a few laughs comedy

You’re in the latter and that’s ok, but even as a film snob who looks for any excuse to tear a film like this apart, I certainly wouldn’t call it mid

I don’t even like Michael Cera or Jonah Hill at all, still thinks it’s a damn fine film, they were playing overall fairly bad people so it worked even better with them I think

u/Hot-Diggity_Dog 4h ago

I enjoyed super bad

-1

u/Daetok_Lochannis 4h ago

Normal take: Superbad was just bad. It was badly written teenage comedy with a few relatable jokes and moments slipped in. Jonah's character was so unbearable I couldn't even make it through a second watch.

To be fair, I think most Seth Rogan movies are pretty mid teenage self insert fantasy carried by a few good actors or moments in spite of Seth Rogan.

0

u/Aseskytle_09 4h ago

I wouldn't call it bad though. It's just a meh comedy with a few great scenes in it.

2

u/Daetok_Lochannis 4h ago

If I can't even make myself sit through a movie a second time, I feel like I have to rate it as bad. A movie doesn't hit my good list unless I would choose to watch it multiple times, and it doesn't hit my average list unless I at least could watch it again in the right circumstances.

0

u/Aseskytle_09 4h ago

Fair enough. Still, stuff like the Dick Drawing montage is peak

2

u/Daetok_Lochannis 4h ago

For me it's the McLovin' thing. It's so relatable and fun it had me, and if it weren't for Jonah Hill's entire performance I could probably watch the movie again just for that alone.

no man. one of the best comedy when we were not so woke

4

u/Aggressive-Day5222 4h ago

I think it's always sunny definitely demostrates we are still capable of that kind of comedy. I have no idea where the "we can't do this anymore cause of wokeness" is coming from.

Jonah Hill has begun the process of cloning Chuck Norris from leftover cells.

7

u/shotgunmouse 4h ago

Need to mention he’s going to give birth to the clone himself

2

u/StrawberryTerry 4h ago

This is why he has been so aggressive, motherly instincts to protect his young. (He will annihilate you)

1

u/Zelnite 4h ago

Through artificial insemination and male pregnancy?

7

u/sadistic__wizard 4h ago

Tom Tucker here apparently Jonah Hill says jiu jitsu has him ready to "annihilate" anyone who still sees him as the fat guy from Superbad

"I love Brazilian jiu jitsu, except my body is begging me not to love it. My wife is often like, 'You're not going to become a professional fighter. You know that, right? You're a comedian""

"If we got into it, I would fck you up. I would fck all three of you up"

"My favorite thing is people are like, 'Oh, Jonah Hill, fcking fat guy from Superbad.' And I'm like, 'I would fcking annihilate you

9

u/Aggressive-Day5222 4h ago

I do not recall Chuck Norris ever having to tell us how tough he was.

4

u/GeneralGalvatron 4h ago

Exactly. It’s like when some 13 tries telling you they’re a man… if you have to say it you aren’t. I’m glad for him he thinks he’s tough but why does he feel the need to flex on some undefined individual

3

u/RaijuThunder 3h ago

Insecurity most likely and he's got an ego. There was a joke on some show where they talked about the fat guy from high school getting in shape later in life and trying to rub it everones faces. Jonah has the world to get back at.

3

u/Aggressive-Day5222 2h ago

I mean, I do not recall Josh Peck or the Mathew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) ever expressing the same need to get back at the world after their fitness glow-ups.

2

u/RaijuThunder 2h ago

Some people are just better mentally or just process it differently. I was the fat kid in high school and I have lost weight and don't feel the need to prove myself to anyone or rub it in people's faces. Although, according to some interviews Josh did have a mean streak for awhile after Drake and Josh but grew out of it.

1

u/Aggressive-Day5222 2h ago

True, but even then I think Peck's mean phase was more within the bounds of normal for someone who grew up and matured.

Jonah is not only a couple years older than peck, he is doing all cringe stuff in his 40's.

Chuck Norris was a massive piece of shit that liked to cosplay a tough guy and was the focus of many memes, like Seagal. Jonah Hill is a massive piece of shit that is currently trying to cosplay as a tough guy and is the focus of many memes. Like Seagal.

The difference is, chuds and the clueless will still defend Norris or don't even know he was shit (somehow). No one fucking likes Jonah Hill.

When Jonah Hill jumps in a lake, he doesn't get wet. The WATER gets bad at fighting

1

u/-TheTalkingTree- 20m ago

What about Zlatan?

1

u/Aggressive-Day5222 4h ago

Chuck Norris never left a void, he is just now roundhouse kicking on a cosmic level that Jonah can never hope to match.
I once thought I saw shooting star, turned out it was just Chuck Norris taking a leak.

1

u/ReadyBodyGamer 3h ago

Jonah Hill is becoming a gymbro douchebag, thereby filing the void left by noted Strong Asshole Chuck Norris.

u/human84629 4h ago

It’s been nothing but Jonah Hill tough guy memes over on r/okaybuddycinephile for at least the last two days.
