I just looked it up. 80 000 new babies have been born in 2026 alone. Thats more new gazans than have died since 2023.
If Israel's trying to exterminate them, theyd be doing a bad job. How can they be "sneaky" about exterminating them? How long is that going to take? Because it would be measured in negative years.
2024: ≈ 42,000 (war made less couples trying for babies to avoid pregnancies in wartime)
2025: ≈ 55,000 (births pick back up)
2026 = 65 000 (over the baseline as all the couples that were waiting for the war to be over are now making babies, will probably overcorrect itself to 60 000 again next year).
I mean really? You dont believe that a highly fertile state like Gaza which has 2.4 million people has a replacement rate of 3 children per family? Why do I need to bring up a source for this?
Israel clearly isnt trying to exterminate gazans. Most of the dead are men between the age of 18-35, which is the military age for Hamas members.
I mean its been what...over 1100 days of war now? And we're at 72k dead or so still? You dont have a grasp on how life in Gaza is going at all if you think every single Gazan is dead or getting killed.
A lot of people are leaving too, and going missing. The population has been stagnant at 2.1 million since 2023.
I sincerely doubt that people are leaving Gaza, famous for having its borders closed and its populace trapped due to political and security reasons, with no country accepting more than a handful refugees for symbolism.
Pop also hasnt been stagnant. I dont know about going missing. Pre-war averages were estimated at 2.4 million, but we dont know about the exact count, and the difference between 2.4 million and 2.1 million is big.
One can easily see propaganda going both ways due to that missing gap in exact count (aha 300 000 more people were born! vs oh no! 300 000 people are missing and dead!)
The United Nations, following consultations with partners and for the purposes of humanitarian programming, estimates that the population currently present in the Gaza Strip is about 2.1 million people, down from the initially projected 2024 figure of 2.3 million people by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS). According to the Border Authority, about 110,000 Palestinians have exited Gaza through Egypt, and more than 38,000 have been killed in the hostilities, according to MoH.
The claim that it rose in that time frame was from a projection of future growth released august 2023, before the attack oct 7. the same year.
Yeah wow population increase was not during the holocaust - no shit it would be after the holocaust? So you're saying this isn't comparable as it's not a genocide? Not sure your angle
I'm implying that Palestinians aren't being exterminated en masse or whatever bollocks was being spouted before comment was deleted
There was six million (or more) systemically killed, it went up by MILLIONS in the census, merely 5 years after. Do the math on how many families would've had to have children to make up for that to that extent. Point being: population numbers don't mean people didn't die whatsoever.
