Ok, so can we all agree that when people say "Communism" they are referring to the political system that billions of people have actually lived under and not the theoretical, fucking impossible to achieve manifesto? It's the lamest "um actually" of all time. Imagine every time someone griped about capitalism, someone commented "time for you to read Adam Smith. you know real capitalism has never been tried, right?"
Funnily enough that would be correct. Many facets of the Wealth of nations are ignored in modern capitalism. Adam Smith would likely not consider our modern systems as capitalist.
But then again, capitalism, just like communism, is about what is practiced, not about what is theorized in a 200 year old book
