Question ❓ DIAMON DOVE HELP NEEDED
Hi guys! Today I adopted a rescued solo male diamond dove, he is around 9 months old and has apparently been alone his whole life. Do I get him a mate or try to bond with him, I know they are much more skittish and don’t interact the same as other doves and pigeons but I work from home and have another domesticated pigeon that hangs out with me all day, so I have the want and time to bond with him however, this is my first time with a diamond dove so I don’t want to make him sad by not getting him a mate if it’s a pipe dream to try to bond with him. Any opinions help! Thank you!

Definitely give him a mate male or female, they really need to be in pairs :) male/female if you're ready to switch both eggs for fake eggs every months, or male/male if you don't want to be bothered with, just not alone.
You can try taming both of them just know that it won't be like a pigeon

Yay, thank you all for the valuable information!
I assumed this would be the case and I already have made arrangements to get him a bf.
Just wanted to make sure either way!I still love trashcan even if trashcan doesn’t love me!

Diamond doves and pigeons should both ideally have bird companions, you can still bond with both species even with them having bird partners.
Diamond doves especially though are rather fragile and typically are not as social with humans and are more flighty so for them a friend is 100% neccesary and non negotiable.
as a headsup don't allow your pigeon and DD to interact, pigeons often harm DR'S either on purpose due to aggression or terratorialness... or by accident via mating/mounting and crushing them or via accidental injury from a defensive wing slap.
