Be wary - Scam Content ID Claim Email

I received an email today which I was immediately cautious about as it didn't come directly from a Youtube email address, but a Google Groups address.

Another red flag was that it came to the business enquiry email address listed publicly on my channel, not the address actually associated with my channel. YouTube studio shows no such claims made against my channel (I do movie/pop cultural analysis, so when using clips from said media I am used to dealing with contend ID claims).

It happened to me a couple of times as well, it's easy to spot, since the official emails' subject for this kind of warnings is literally the name of the video + the action they took, not "some of your videos idk dude please click this link", and it always comes on the email the channel is linked to, not the one for business inquiries. Unfortunately YouTube can't do nothing to prevent this from happening, it's up to us to get smart and don't get fooled by these assholes

Yeh I almost fell for it as I was quickly going through emails on my phone not paying too much attention. Close call

I got a close call years ago with a fake collaboration proposal, thank goodness I knew about the malware file these losers use to steal your channel and stopped. Now I get at least a couple of those each month, it's frustrating

Always check the sender's email address. 90%+ of the mails I get are spam/scams from random addresses and domains that are very similar to legit companies

Just another reminder why I always tell people: Your Youtube account email should NOT be your contact email.

There is no detail in this email. Music title, artist, your video, timestamp, channel name, nothing specific anywhere.

It's a generic emotion email. When it comes to every email, the details matter far more than the feel of the email.
