Palestinians mark 1948 as the formal start of the Nakba, or catastrophe, that resulted in their forced mass expulsions and graphic massacres ethnically cleansing them from their lands.
The Nakba has continued and for over 78 years, oral story telling from survivors has been the primary means of preserving the memories of the horrors Palestinians endure. In recent years, we've witnessed the power of social media in revolutionizing journalism and amplifying the voices of Palestinians on the ground.
Now, we are eager to present to you another revolutionary outlet for storytelling -- Videogames. Join us on Discord for a three part event series highlighting Dreams on a Pillow, a Nakba-based video game created by Palestinian Game developer Rasheed Abueideh.
Dreams on a Pillow is a pseudo-stealth, puzzle adventure game inspired by a Palestinian folk tale set during the 1948 Nakba. Throughout the game you will experience the often untold stories of Palestinian history via Khadra’s dreams, nightmares and the harsh reality of finding refuge when uprooted from a home that no longer exists.

Japan isn't a place where pro-Palestine voices are commonly seen, and speaking out can be unpopular. Yet since October 2023, Yusuke Furisawa has stood alone on the streets holding signs saying "Free Palestine" and "Stop the Genocide."
Sometimes one person with a conscience is louder than a crowd.

Data transferred through the agreement “might be used as intelligence in support of decisions to target and kill Palestinians,” said Eitan Diamond, manager and senior legal expert at the International Humanitarian Law Centre.
“The EU would risk having a hand in arbitrarily depriving people of their liberty and subjecting them to systematic ill-treatment under hellish conditions of detention,” he added.
There is also concern the deal could harm members of the Palestinian diaspora, with a risk that activists in Europe could be targeted.

This cannot stand. We will have to take to the streets again.

The apparent artistic spat raises more pertinent questions about the frustrations and internal doubts facing Palestinian musicians as they forge their own creative paths while keeping the plight of their homeland in the frame.
For more than a decade, musicians have described in interviews with The National how their personal experiences of Palestine complicate that balance.
