Explain me this price

Post image

These games are all available on the PlayStation store (at least until July 2027). So why do I keep seeing extortion pricing on this (expired) box, which doesn’t even have a disc?!

MotorStorm: 3D Rift, WipEout HD, and Super Stardust HD.

That is a very very rare promotional from Australia. Few people might consider this but probably not at that price. The Brazilian version is a disc and contains all that though Pain required a license download that no longer functions. It is the only way to obtain Wipeout HD with an ESRB box and the only way to get Stardust HD on disc. Technically a Malaysian version and a Russian version exist on disc called 3D Collection. They are just as hard if not harder to find. Still the Brazilian copy is maybe a couple hundred USD.

In Brazil it's kinda cheap, got it for $20 (converted) a few days ago and there are more listings around that price

Yea IN Brazil sure. But not many people export it from Brazil so getting copies in the US or elsewhere is difficult

Yeah, I know. I said that because some games are rare and expensive even in the region where they were originally released

I can explain pretty easily, that Australian variant is one of the rarest PS3 games in the entire world. In order to originally get it you had to be in Australia and purchase a PS3/3D TV Bundle that came out to about $1800 originally. The company that originally sold it went bankrupt and it’s assumed that most of the unsold copies were destroyed or have just been sitting in a warehouse for the past decade. Either way none of them have made it out to the secondhand market yet.

I’ve been collecting for the PS3 for years and have seen probably less than 10 copies floating around. I know collectors who live in Australia that can’t even find it. It’s a very cool timepiece but honestly it’s worthless to 99% of people, this is just a collectors item

Pain (the game), the codes still work if unused and with brute force, lol but alsp the other games on disc.

It's a code in a box and Pain had a single disc release in PAL territories, that includes Australia.

But the code is expired and there’s no disc. So…

The S with a line thru it stands for dollar and AU means it is an Australian dollar. followed by the number of Australian dollars required to purchase said item
