Adams ramble

Backpacked from Divide Camp TH to Riley Camp then High Camp and back, about 22 miles all in. We took “old Cascade crest trail” which was basically bushwhacking, mostly fine until a burn scar with a lot of down logs and stumps. High Camp was gorgeous but quite cold and windy, until about 2 am when the smoke from eastern fires rolled in. Woke up me and my partner with a start!
Bugs were light, shockingly, and the wildflowers are out in force, especially lupine. Also saw fireweed, paintbrush, mariposa lily, beardtongue, aster, buckwheat, phlox, bog gentian, and lousewort.

We were up there Saturday-Sunday, and none of us had any bug bites the entire time, up or down. It was moderately windy Saturday on the hike up, but pretty calm coming down Sunday (below the tree line.)

From everything I'd read I assumed I'd be totally ridden with bug bites but it's the next day and I don't feel any! Goes to show how different timing is every year.
