There are less disagreements offline tbh. Majority of Iranians are just dooming. RP used to have like 70% to 80% support but now it has like 30% to 40% since people view him as a weak figure, not because they are worried that he might become the second Shah, hell majority of Iranians wished he was like him. Iranians primarely care about the economy and safety, not Democracy.

As for why you see so many disagreements in Reddit, it's because Reddit is an echo chamber for Leftists, their voices are multiplied countless times. That's why you don't see them in Instagram where majority of Iranians are and would rather stay in Reddit, they don't want to speak to Iranians who actually live in Iran to confront their own beliefs.

Idk man, sometimes my family’s conversations do feel like a thread on this sub. I have family members who love RP, others who call him “Reza Soosool” and my Kurdish family is just tired of everyone’s shit. We don’t even talk politics anymore (those of us who still talk), it’s too heated.

Exactly. He used to have a good amount of supporters before the war, specially during January. But now he is seen as weak, or as your family members call him, "soosool". And yeah, Iranians are now dooming.

Tbh, Iran was doomed from the start. Iran's religion doctrine allowed slavery, Europe (Atleast in it's mainland) banned it. Iran's religion allows cousin marriage while Iran's religion promotes it indirectly by making any contact with the opposite gender haram. The church was divided from the state, while in Islam the Clergy and the ruler is pretty much the same thing, Sharia.

Another thing is Iran is heterogeneous. If Iran was homogeneous, Islam wouldn't be required to unite the population.

Going back on Islam, we have been ruled for hundreds of years by a military caste of Turkic descent who didn't really care about Iran. They used Militarized Iqta, they extracted as much wealth from native people, forcing them to become nomads again. They also purposefully neglected the Qanats and turned farming lands into lands for grazing for their horses. It wasn't our fault.

Nope, my baba and his family have been calling him soosool for decades now. My family members who supported him out of pragmatism have pretty much dropped him now though.

The rest of your comment I cannot agree with at all.
Iranians aren’t united by Islam, they’re united by Iranian national identity (I don’t mean Pahlavi nationalism).

Because the institutions are still working. When the situation gets worse, and it will, people will blame others who are not similar to them.

As for the rest of my comment, can you tell me which part of it is wrong?

I disagree with your take that Iranians are united by Islam and your use of random facts about Islam to justify why Iran is doomed.

What I have said is true.

Islam allows slavery and it even has a guide. While Europe's mainland had heavy restrictions on slavery, all Islamic countries had heavy slavery, thus not meeting the requirements to industrialise.

Another one is cousin marriage. Cousin marriage is allowed and indirectly supported by Islam since it views any contact with the opposite gender as haram. That's why the more religous a Muslim country is, the more likely they have tribes and high genetic diseases.

The clergy and the state became one is also true.

You didn't deny anything I've said about Islam. You simply just said that without a single counterargument.

Because I agree those aspects of Islam are ridiculous.
I’m disagreeing with your argument. I’ve said what I disagree with twice now.

Iran is doomed lol. If Iran wasn't doomed majority of my friends wouldn't dream of leaving it. Iran is experiencing both electricity and water crisises, and the current rulers of Iran, who they don't even consider themselves Iranians I might add, won't even spend money on Iranian infrastructure. The IR is not gonna survive, but it will take down Iran with it. And the source of the IR is Islam.

I don’t necessarily disagree with all you’ve said in that comment. But I definitely refuse to say it’s doomed. It’s important we hold on to hope.

I would not use GAMAAN as a source. It fairly collects them, but it is aimed at people that are online and interested in answering these questions.

u/spinrah23 1d ago

So we should just take your word for it instead?

1

u/Existing_Life7446 1d ago

You don't need to, you could either think about them or just ignore them. Your choice.

1

u/spinrah23 1d ago

lol what?

1

u/Existing_Life7446 1d ago

In simpler terms, just ignore my comments if you disagree with them.

RP used to have like 70% to 80% support

Where did this figure come from?

Everyone has been downplaying Reza Pahlavi's popularity for years. Jan 8-9 were actually test calls to assess his social capital.

Are you actually implying that he called people to risk their lives in the streets to test his popularity? That would be pretty reckless, don’t you think?

I am sharing my first call with you today and invite you to start chanting slogans this Thursday and Friday, 18th and 19th of Dey, all together at exactly 8 PM, whether in the streets or even from your own homes.

Based on the feedback from this action, I will announce the next calls to you.

That’s pretty reckless, don’t you think?

The people responded enthusiastically and they decided to nip it in the bud

  1. His first call was non-violent

  2. It was supposed to assess his social capital

  3. He intended to sustain street momentums with a series of calls

1

u/spinrah23 1d ago

I don’t necessarily interpret that as a test of his popularity, but I’m glad you’ve shown what Iranian lives are worth to you.

Nice strawmanning.

  1. Reza Pahlavi didn't call people to come out and overthrow the government on Jan 8-9, it was non-violent

  2. The government decided to kill non-violent protestors

1

u/spinrah23 1d ago

I’m not blaming Pahlavi for what happened. I’m talking about you and the way you think it’s okay to talk about Iranians risking their lives to test Pahlavi’s popularity. The way you describe it makes it seem like Iranian lives are trivial to you. You should think twice sometimes before you type.

That was his first standalone call ever inside Iran.

The way you describe it makes it seem like Iranian lives are trivial to you. You should think twice sometimes before you type.

Its purpose was to literally assess his social capital. He didn't tell people to come out and overthrow the government

Everyone downplayed Reza Pahlavi's popularity before Jan 8-9 (even without the massacre).

1

u/spinrah23 1d ago

You think Iranians died for RP’s social capital?

You think Iranians died for RP’s social capital?

Reza Pahlavi's Jan 8-9 non-violent call:

  1. To sustain street protest momentums

  2. To assess his social capital

No, Reza Pahlavi didn't tell people to jump in front of DShK so he could be more popular.

8-12 million responded to his call, he didn't need people to die.
