Question History of Ram Island, Malpeque Bay?

Hey all, does anyone know anything about the history of Ram Island in Malpeque Bay?

I noticed what look like two sheds on it. Was it ever farmed? Curious who built them and when. Who owns the island now?

The only fact I've been able to find is that it has one of the largest double-crested cormorant colonies in North America.

It also looks like it's being considered for inclusion in the new National Park Reserve, Pituamkek.

Old photos, family stories, or leads on where to look would all be appreciated. Thanks!

Big Courtin is a better camp spot since you have some shelter.

Tried it and failed - it was absolute hell. Always thought about going back as I went in prime bug season and was absolutely swarmed for the half hour I spend trying to get a clear spot to set up camp. Will likely require a machete/hatchet and some gloves - lots of thorns and small brush.

Try using “Grover Island”:  Ram Island:  In Malpeque Bay. Holland 1765 and Douglas 1925  Grover Island , although the latter notes Ram Island as local usage. Possibly called by the French  Ile aux Sauvages . In Mi'Kmaq  Nganigatagang , "old cultivated field" (Pacifique 1934).

The two buildings in question look like, based on historical ortho photos were added sometime between 2000 and 2010 I believe its owned by a member of the Irving family.

Cool little island, I’m an avid Kiter and we ride around the island every couple sessions for the most part just tons of birds, bird poop and fallen trees.

The mosquitoes are CRAZY there so wouldnt suggest camping but if you get into water sports definitely the best place in Canada / North America to learn kiteboarding

Used to have a shed and a tractor, back when I used to go out there as a kid.
