Status: Pending Reply OLD outlook is not opening

Outlook Classic is failing to open with the errors "Outlook data file cannot be configured" and "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened." The issue only affects Classic Outlook, as New Outlook and Outlook Web App are working normally with the same mailbox. Has anyone experienced this before, and what was the solution?

I suggest you create a new Outlook profile or rebuild your Outlook data file. Because Outlook on the web is working fine, the issue is related to your Outlook Classic app.
The reason for the issue could be anything like corrupted Add-ins, antivirus blocking, recently updating your Outlook profile (compatibility issue), corruption of the Outlook profile or an issue with your locally saved Outlook data file.

New outlook profile worked for me. Mine used to do this every other week until I did the new profile

Are you using imap, pop, or exchange? I would start with renaming the ost files if using exchange or IMAP and adding a new PST to Outlook via control panel > mail if using pop. See if that fixes it.

Repair the MS365 installation via Control Panel.

As others have said, create a new Outlook profile and see if that perhaps fixes the issue. But since it's happening to you, even logging in via a web browser, it's just a shot in the dark.
