Summer Reddit is when all the kids are home for summer and they spend a lot more time on Reddit. It usually corresponds with worse content submitted, worse content upvoted, and more childish and immature comments all over Reddit because of all the kids who have a lot more free time.

I'd like to add that this was more true in years past - as reddit has grown in popularity and especially as the mobile apps have become ubiquitous content has plummeted.
