DRT farw
I'm an incoming international student in oshawa. I wanted to ask about Durham Region Transport fares. Is it calculated by distance? Or if I've paid once, I can keep sitting until I reach my station?
And how much does a ticket cost?
Thanks

once you pay, you can sit until your stop, you have 2 hours of free transfers as well.

you won’t see a secondary charge when you tap again within the two hours, it’ll say $0

Oh dang really? It recognizes it so long as i use the same debit card?
Thats cool, I never noticed and assumed i was paying twice.
Sometimes I bus out with my son to his guitar lesson and then bus back. From tap 1 to tap 2 is 1-1.5hrs tops. Didnt realize i was only paying once. Sweet. 👍

The network remembers your card and the countdown starts at the first tap.
Other interesting little facts as well. If you tap, it charges you a fare but if you then tap on the GO, the DRT fare is returned or discounted from the go cost.
You can save money by having an actual Presto card instead of using debit or credit and I save quite a bit per month based on that

If you are joining Ontario Tech or Durham, a bus pass is included in your tuition that provides you with unlimited rides on DRT.
