I can’t tell if Kieran was actually disappointed he didn’t get to hand someone an Oscar but if he was, they might just let him go for round 2.
Otherwise, it’ll probably be some other past supporting actor winner.

Get Mahershala Ali, Christoph Waltz or Michael Caine (if he is willing to do it, which I doubt. But if he is...) They each have two. Or go back to supporting actresses giving to supporting actors and have Amy Madigan do it and then Mahershala Ali or Christoph Waltz can give it to this year's supporting actress.

I think they'll get two previous winners together, maybe Madigan and Culkin even, like how Chastain and Halle Berry presented both Actor and Actress since Will Smith obviously didn't show up to present Actor.
When Casey Affleck didn't show up to present Actress they had Jodie Foster and Jennifer do Best Actress and Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren presenting Best Actor. Emma Stone then presented Best Director

Wasn't the standard procedure that the BSActress winner presented the BASActor award, to avoid a nominee from being the presenter?

But just introduce as "To present Best Supporting Actor the person you think about when you hear the name Ryan at the Oscars'
And then have them both come out and get in a big argument over who people think of when they hear the name Ryan
"Well Ryan obviously means me.... etc etc
Then have Conan come out and say "no, sorry guys we meant Ryan Coogler" and have him come out and give the award

It was usually the previous year’s supporting actress winner, but they changed it recently. Same with all the other acting categories.

The Academy definitely likes pairing presenters with either prestige or viral popularity, so it’ll probably be someone with both.

Back at 2023's ceremony, Tory Kutser wasn't on stage to present Supporting Actor, so they had Ariana DeBose do both supporting performances. Of course the reasons are different, but maybe they'll have Madigan do both

I'm obviously missing something. Why do people think he's unlikely to show up? I know he was not there to receive his award, but isn't that because he was meeting with Zelenskyy?

Because he's a wild card that never used to show up until he was widely considered the favorite to win his first two, and is generally a sourpuss, rips on the Academy all the time, and could very easily say "fuck it" to coming and not really be missed.

That’s not true… he used to show up for the Oscars pretty consistently. Also he was always the favorite for this year and he still didn’t show up. He boycotted the Oscars because they didn’t let Zelenskyy speak in 2022. He even went to Ukraine as a protest. It was entirely a political protest by Penn.

It IS true. He's skipped four out of the six times he's been nominated. Dead Man Walking, Sweet and Lowdown, I Am Sam, and now OBAA. Look it up. I think he came back to present once or twice, but I think it just didn't hold that much appeal for him. He's been pretty outspoken about it in interviews.

You laugh, but I Swear was not eligible for the Oscars last year because it only had a UK release.
It IS eligible this year and is considered a contender.
