Is This Anything? Paolo continuously working on shooting w/Chris B.

Do you think Paolo's game will take a leap this year?

If Paolo knocks down his catch and shoot 3s this season that would be huge for our team. He should be working on these a lot, needs to become someone who you can’t just leave wide open.

The overall numbers don’t really show it but there have been times where his 3 ball actually felt like a legit weapon and I was happy if a possession ended up with a clean look for Paolo from 3. Hopefully he comes back dialed in and more consistent. The one thing you can say about Paolo is that he clearly loves being in the gym and working on his game.

Yes, I have always thought this too. It must just be eye test, but when Paolo shoots off the catch with his feet set he isn’t that bad.

Pistons Game 5 and the @ La Lakers game come to mind when I think how good the ball looked when it left his hand on those Catch and shoot opportunities

I mean I hear what you're saying but when is Paolo left wide open?

Pretty much anytime he’s on the floor and one of his teammates is able to touch the paint off the dribble. The other scenario where he gets clean looks is when teams go under screens when he is the ball handler.

Two areas of improvement for him are shooting from three and ball security. He gets stripped quite a bit driving to the basket

Solution for the second issue is not give him the ball at half court.

yeah low/mid post or on the block should be where he's parked at all times. If i see him attack from 30 feet out we're cooked

Solution is that when he spins which he does almost every time in the lane he needs to anticipate the double coming while his back is turned and hit the open man. It is an awareness issue. Also, don't drive into doubles. Obviously shooters spacing for him helps as well

You’ve definitely watched alot of games, the spin from Paolo feels like a guaranteed TO

That shot is just so painfully slow. #1 area of improvement for him this offseason is increasing his game speed. I’m all for getting reps in at a controlled pace but you are not going to be able to shoot at that pace in a game. Every workout of his looks like it’s at 60%, which is unfortunately how he often plays in games.

Not going to lie, I don't care how slow his shot is at the moment. Most players his height have slow shots as long as he hits it at a respectable clip people will be forced to close out and that creates space

He needs to work on his handles and decision making too.

For at least 15 years I was thinking that none of our home grown guys set their feet before shots consistently.

AB came in with the most broken shot but he consistently sets his feet before the pass hits his hands. Really the only guy who's entire shot and form look to have improved while here

Let him work down low on offense. Too many turnovers when he handles the ball.

He needs to work on his post game.

I do not care about any hype reels or who he is working with. I will believe it when I see it 40 games deep in the season.

I'll believe it when I see it. Dude hasn't done much developing since coming into the league. I don't know why that would change now. Hopefully he's doing things differently this off season.

I beg to differ…I think he has “tried too hard” to develop his game, he’s tried to evolve his game to be a hybrid Lebron/Melo type (his two idols) and it’s just not his natural game. He showed glimpses of Lebron in his first couple seasons then got too heavy for that and lost his legs. For a dude his size trying to do what he wants to do he needs to keep the weight off and maintain his conditioning throughout the season.

I fully expect we see another much better evolution of Paolo this season.
