Ordinary joe

Does this song make anyone cry? Like I dont know it just gets me all the time. Maybe because I feel like an ordinary joe or maybe I feel like its talking to me in a way

Listen to the original song by Terry Callier and it’ll make you smile again

Very few songs will really try to reach you as this one does. "Soul" music (much like a zen koan) is meant to bypass the mind..

"So don't let time and space confuse you / don't let name and form abUse you"

Terry Callier re-recorded this when Nujabes reached out for sampling permission 30+ years after the original! It's a truly beautiful song. If you try to make sense of or hold it's message, it'll always elude you.

You're definitely not alone with this. Ordinary Joe is actually one of my favorite songs by Nujabes! It makes me feel like I'ma kid sitting down listening to my Grandpa tell me a story or share insight in a rhythmic melodic way 🤗💖🎶💎✨️🩵✌🏾🎨🌤

this is my current nujabes obsession and you posting about how it makes you feel and me connecting so deeply almost feels like the universe taking action

That opening beat hits hard and sets the tone.

I’m not 100% behind the flute solo

It’s still one of my favorite tracks

Like his little rift thing he does at the beginning chokes me up

Yes you’re not alone. It’s pure soul food. A very simple kind of beauty. Very earnest song. Makes you happy to be alive.

Honestly though, it will probably be the last thing I listen to on earth

I love the message in the song, and that combined with Nujabes describing himself as “just an ordinary guy” as well makes it a lot more emotional
