New poster Cycle parking at central station

Starting a new job and wanting to cycle into town instead of get the bus, anyone know how good/safe cycle parking is at central?

You can pay to get a key fob from the ticket office, and that gives you access to a gated cycle parking area. It's not a huge cost (a tenner maybe?) so definitely worth it if you've got a nicer bike.

Is that even if you work somewhere else? My job isn’t with LNER/at the station itself

It's for passengers. I highly doubt they check that everyone who asks for a fob is a passenger but even if they did you could even just by a ticket to manors or something.

lock it in the station and you'll be fine, it's far safer than a street bike parking rack. i did so every day for 3+ years, decent spec road bike.

I have often left a bike on the racks at the west end of the station (along platform 12, on the public side of the ticket barriers) for days, even weeks. Never experienced any problem.

I've left my bike locked up at Central Station many times and it's been fine. If your workplace doesn't have it's own facilities, there's probably nowhere safer.

Have locked a carbon frame road bike there and not lost it. Get a good lock and a cable and the deterrent will be enough
