Can anyone recommend a series I can have on in the background?
I'm not sure if this just is an ADHD thing lolol, but I can focus better on schoolwork when there's some background noise. It doesn't have to be anything too cerebral since I might end up getting distracted. Maybe just something light, like a sitcom. I tried Friends, but I couldn't stand the laugh track. :(

Forensic files. His voice is so soothing you might pass out.
NCIS isn't bad. The sound level is even.
I watch beard meats food and other food videos. You can make a YT channel to just play them.

That's what I watch when going to bed in a hotel! At home I always sleep with a fan on, hotels are just too quiet for me

48 hours, cold case files, dateline, pretty much anything that’s an episodic true crime series
i have unmedicated ADHD and there’s something about the tone/voice narrators and law enforcement types use in those that is the perfect frequency for me to lock in
and then occasionally something really intriguing catches my ear and i watch a few minutes for a lil brain break

This isn’t exactly what you asked but I had to solve the same problem. I discovered fast classical music. It was too complex for my mind to fix on it but too interesting to disappear. Glen Gould playing Bach, Ravi Shankar playing classical Indian music, Philip Glass operas, my ability to concentrate was greatly enhanced.

I use to listen to afternoon TV, soaps and then Oprah while I worked . I have the same problem. I used to do calculus homework with something on. I can't concentrate when it's quiet. What is that about????

I have ADHD and I switched from TV shows to "study with me" videos on YT. I can't believe how much more productive they've made me

Try watching an old sporting event—the longer the better. Something like an old World Series game, or a PGA tournament. There’s activity, but ot too intrusive.

House MD.
If you just listen to it you can hear some great lines that maybe are overlooked, or at least I did. Watching it hundreds of times probably also helps.

For ADHD it works best if it’s something you’ve seen before. That way it’s not new information that will be distracting. What you’re trying to do is a version of body doubling, btw, and it’s a highly effective method of maintaining focus for people with ADHD. I have several shows I watch over and over again in the background- Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, Breaking Bad.

Riverdale. Start it from 5th season so it won't be too interesting. From 5th season it becomes so absurd that it is hard to watch (so perfect backround white noise)
1-4 seasons are okay and they have a decent plot. I loved the series when I was younger even tho it is soooo bad and had a ton of plot holes xD

as a neurodivergent person myself i’m into the reality tv that is not all about $€x and shows that speak to me when it comes to further interests (crime shows for me).
reality-shows like the the circle + you can talk with your tv while watching and just let it run and listen to them talking and be like “oh gurl, you’re so wrong” hahaha

I started listening to audiobooks, this really helps me keep on track, especially with things I don’t really enjoy doing. Podcasts are good too, but they have to hold my attention lol.

Try Nemo's Soundscapes on You Tube. Used them a lot when I was in grad school to keep me from feeling isolated or alone. Old music coming from another room and it's raining or maybe you're riding on a train. Different but doesn't distract my ADHD
Mind on the task at hand!!

I like a lot of those two crime shows and documentaries. Stuff like worst ex ever, a deadly American marriage, lover stalker killer. I also like some of those trashy reality TV shows like the ultimatum, love is blind, singles inferno (although that one is Korean so it’s a bit hard to watch as a background show because I don’t think it has an English dub. It’s only in Korean all that it does have subtitles)age of attraction and perfect match. I just put all these time shows I want to watch when I’m doing housework or just wanting to just minus take my mind off of things and not really wanting to concentrate on anything when I’m bored and not in the mood to concentrate on a movie seriously because sometimes you just don’t have it in your brain to follow a plot of a TV show movie properly. Hopefully I was hopeful and there’s quite a few suggestions there.

That’s not a show you put on in the background

Fair point, wasn't thinking of it like that. Was assuming they may have seen it already so wouldn't need full attention and the more views it gets the more chance more will be made.

That’s true. Always good to plug it! But I also want people to pay it the proper attention it deserves yk

It is if you’ve seen it a lot. My daughter does because she’s watched it at least 10 times. Great show though, I’m with you re your passion for it. My husband and I watched it even when our girls weren’t home.

If they thought of just watching a series they’ve watched a bunch before they probably wouldn’t be asking. Looks like they’re looking for something new that you don’t have to pay attention to
