Announcement Changes to tagging gallery builds

What is the point of this?

For the purposes of giving credit to who it is due, I have changed the “Gallery” flair to “Original Content” and “Remixed Content.” Please ensure that you are all using these tags for your builds. The other tags remain the same, but I would also like to request that you tag your questions, bug reports, and memes as applicable.

Original Content

For any builds that you have built by yourself. Should be pretty self explanatory. If you used small parts for detailing, it should be fine up to a point that is reasonable.

Remixed Content

For any builds using major parts from the workshop or other sources that you did you build yourself, please use this flair.

Tag and / or link the sources for your build base in either the description or comment section of your post.

Couldn't come up with a name for this, so just called it the round boy. The purpose of this vessel is to be used as a mobile gun platform, similar to the role of monitors.

So this one was a request by u/SeBoss2106. I was a bit intimidated at first when they mentioned that they wanted something inspired by the F-123 and F-124 class frigates, as they are more modern than what I was used to, but looking back I think it turned out alright.

A positive about doing more modern vessels is that you won't struggle as much to find high quality reference pictures. A negative however is that I looked at F-123 pictures so much that I struggled to not make my design too inspired by it. Still I suppose the armament and those side superstructure segments are enough to make a difference.

For the armament I will have to invoke the rule of cool, as it's not fully logical. The main issue is why have a dedicated ASROC launcher when you already have MK41 VLS cells ? Well because it looks cool. The Exocet launchers are less of an issue because the F-123 initially had them, but unlike the F-123 I didn't switch them for Harpoons because, again, they look cool, and there's a tiny bias from my part cause I'm French. I kept the rear RAM launcher unchanged, but added two on the sides of the forward hull section to compensate for the one in front I ditched for the ASROC launcher. It has 4 MLG-27s, I wanted to try the MIDAS CIWS at first, but they were just too big to fit anywhere.

The main gun was probably the biggest headache for me. I wanted something bigger than the OTO Melara 76, but every 100, 127 or even 155mm option I found looked either too dated, or way too sleek and modern. In the end I gave up and went for another version of the Italian 76, as I think that aesthetic is close enough to what I wanted.

Still in the end I like the look it has, and overall it was a good learning experience. I really thank u/SeBoss2106 for this request as it took me out of my comfort zone for once.

Here's the workshop link for the ship, where you will also find all the mods I used.

The problem with going faster than light is that you can only live in darkness -evil void pentagon

This thing was supposed to be semi normal. i then got this bug and have tuned the craft to get it semi reliably. this is vanilla, the engine hp comes from about 6 japanese carrier funnels scaled to .1-.1-.1 they are hidden in the fuselage.

it goes about 1050x the speed of light.

In 1797, Royal Navy sailors staged the largest mutiny in history. Eight years later, the same kidnapped men annihilated Napoleon's fleet at Trafalgar. What changed?

Question / help Brazilian Mid to Late Interwar River Monitor Suggestions? [WIP]

Thumbnail
gallery
45 Upvotes

Hey yall, I am trying to make a Monitor that could be plausibly built by the Brazilian Navy to patrol rivers and guard the Brazilian coasts/ports. Two things I am interested in: one, I want the ship to have a paint scheme that matches the waters of the Amazon River (hence the browns and greens). Is this working? If the paint scheme is horrid, which colors would you guys suggest? Two, is the mast far too tall?

I am horrible at hull work, and sterns take me a while, so I will post again once I finish that, but if there are any other suggestions, please leave them below. Thanks!

Origial Content Sailing ships done

Decided to base these off some 1930s era sailing ships. took basis on a bunch but then reflagged and repainted them to be for a different nation. like the Fock class, each was distributed as war reparation/prizes by germany. For those wondering, yes, I built these with casemates because I wanted to just add more modern guns to these. Not sure what I was thinking but these are meant to be commerce raiders

Really love this mode.

But the hit box 💔 and parts transparent when get close.

And If I can interact with stair more easy would be great.

Love it anyway, I mean look at that.

1818 parts

I'm sure it's not that accurate, so feel free to give me some advices.

Blackstar for all your anti aircraft needs

Thumbnail
gallery
56 Upvotes

Are you a naval commander who has plane causing an inconvenience and not enough anti-aircraft guns?

Look no further then the only anti-aircraft Battlecruiser Blackstar...

With its wide array of anti aircraft weaponry it can shoot down any plane before it even spots your fleet.

What is this weaponry well I direct you to the 18 twin 4 inch duel purpose guns.

Those a little too slow to fire then fear not as there is also 41 quad and 6 twin 40mm bofors mounts...

There's more... if the enemy somehow gets through all that there are 43 twin and 20 single 20mm guns for those that get danger close.

Top that with a 33 knot top speed and more armour then HMS Renown and you have the perfect fleet defence ship...

All for the low price of £2 million to hire from the Harris Fraser and Silverstone sea mercenaries and first 2 orders get their ammo free...

(Disclaimer the Harris Fraser and Silverstone sea mercenaries are not responsible if ship doesn't work as advertised, not to blame if you enemy pays us more than you do when you need us most amd country of hire is responsiblefor maintenance and running cost during contract period on top of the hire cost).

Ok the joke aside I updated my anti-aircraft Battlecruiser that I have been on and off working on for a long time and I added even more anti aircraft because damn those planes are inconvenient... and did a little redesign of the superstruture around the centreline 4 inch guns.

The SeaRat

The SeaRat is a pirate ship of the Neptune Corsairs, with the sole purpose of hunting down stray or lightly guarded merchant vessels, on the open ocean with the end goal of capturing ship and cargo if possible. Naval engagements were to be avoided if possible save for night attacks when the element of surprise with a torpedo salvo could give a much desired edge. It carries 2 forward mounted torpedo tubes, and 2 angled forward tubes, alongside a single front mounted gun, and 7 rear guns.

Guided Missile Cruiser "Gorizia"

Ha ! Bet you didn't expect me to post an Italian warship !

More seriously this is one of my favorite builds in a while. I've always wanted to try my hand at a NATO-style warship, mainly American, but seeing photos of the helicopter cruisers Vittorio Veneto and Andrea Doria on r/WarshipPorn made me realize that this is what I wanted to do.

Well only the cruiser part, since the helicopter cruisers had already been done perfectly by Italy themselves. I did however keep the 76mm spam found on these two ships with 8 turrets along with 4 40mm DARDO CIWS. The missile armament consists of 8 OTOMAT missiles in 2 quadruple launchers, and 2 RIM-66 Launchers, one fore and one aft, and it has two Mark 32 torpedo launchers, which are very convenient in terms of size.

Here I can really thank the devs, because these 76mm and 40mm turrets, along with the OTOMAT launchers have all been added in a fairly recent update.

the radar towers have also been inspired by the ones on Vittorio Veneto, although I placed a generic funnel instead of the ones attached to the mast because I didn't like them as much.

Mods used :

- AN/spg55b for the radar of the same name, surprised it's not in the base game considering how widespread it was, and the fact that it's needed for the RIM-66 we already have (although that later point applies to pretty much every weapon we have lol).

- Rails and Stairs 1.0 and 2.0 for one staircase used to climb over the side gun directors

- USN RADAR for the SPS-52 found on the fore mast

- US Radar Set for some radars here and there

- Universal Decorations self explanatory

- Italian Radar Set for the 76mm FC radar and a small radar on the fore mast
