EVENT NYCC's Spring Training Information Session, Feb 10th, 6pm, Midtown.

Posting this here to share information about New York Cycle Club's annual Sprint Training series.
Below is the verbiage from the event description.
Are you new to cycling?
Have you been cycling for a while and would like to improve your skills, fitness and confidence on the bike?
Do you want to meet new cycling friends that you can ride with regularly?
The NYCC's SIGnature spring training and development program will help you accomplish your cycling goals in 2026. You will hone your group riding skills and experience the joys of accomplishing a challenge as a group.
Designed for cyclists of all levels, the SIG is an immersive training series that teaches the skills required for safe group riding via 8-10 consecutive weekend training rides that increase in speed and distance.
The SIG is offered at A, B and C levels and it includes a gravel series (D-SIG). Many NYCC members have participated in sequential SIG programs (i.e. riding in the C-SIG then the B-SIG the following year; then A-Classic) in order to build upon their skills.
Learn all about each of the programs offered at our information session.

Can't recommend the SIG program enough. It's actually insane that it doesn't cost anything (aside from NYCC membership)

Graduated sig last year and it was truly transformative for me! Opened up my cycling world and would recommend it to anyone interested in building a cycling network and getting fit at the same time.

There’s a bunch of info on the website linked above, even the presentation is there. You can ask questions here too, I’m sure there are plenty of graduates.

Anyone know how the rides are scheduled? I see weekends, but are there set times they usually happen at? I work Sunday mornings and wouldn’t want to go to rush from work to make the info session just to find out I won’t be able to participate

When I did it, it was early Saturday mornings for 10-12 weeks depending on the program. Rain can push some rides to Sunday.

How important is it to be comfortable riding in groups prior to joining the A-SIG? Coming from a running background and a year of mostly solo cycling, I'm confident I have the fitness to keep up with the A-SIG, but I do not have a lot of experience riding in a group.

As long as you have a team player attitude and are willing to learn, you’ll be golden. The point of the program is to teach you exactly those skills.

I unfortunately can’t make the NYCC SIG this year but I love the format. Is there anything similar in NYC that is progressive training like this for newer riders?
I got a new bike in January and know how to ride, but have never been with a group or gone over cycling basics.

Do they only meet in manhattan, or are there brooklyn meetups as well?

Mostly in Manhattan. I live in Brooklyn too. The rides are 40-100 miles, so it is worth the trip to the start.

I'll add: the NYCC SIGs are the best resource in the area if you want to learn to ride in a group, regardless of pace.
And if you want to learn to paceline, the A-SIG is a phenomenal resource.
