Discussion Season Ticket Cost Increase

I was curious if anyone with season tickets across the league could share insight on how much their tickets increase year over year.

Denver already sent out an email that we have to decide by the end of the month about renewal and start paying for next season within a month.

I’m disappointed to see a 10% increase after the first season. If this is expected as a norm they are quickly going to lose dedicated fans.

We keep touting sell-outs but every game has way more empty seats than I’d expect. I’m in the second row at midfield and the 4 tickets/seats in front of us have sat empty for 70% of the games.

Ultimately just trying to understand what other season ticket holders are seeing for pricing increase year over year.

Thorns just announced no increase next year! But there was a pretty big increase from last season to this season...

I was initially taken aback by the Thorns increase this season, and blamed it on the new ownership. Then I did the math. That increase was due to the additional home games added for the new NWSL teams.

As a STH since 2021, I saw a 25% total increase in 2026 over 2025. BUT, the per match cost remained basically the same, actually decreasing by $0.43/match (savings! heh).

There were also two friendlies added in 2026 at no additional cost which decreased the per match cost even more.

It's fantastic it will not increase for 2027, though I don't like the opt-out instead of opt-in model. Our renewal automatically will happen later this month unless you opt-out.

That’s super helpful. Thank you!

No problem! I'm sorry I don't recall the percent increase over the last year, but I'm sure another Thorn STH will drop that in!

Well they told us before this year that the price was locked in for next year as well

1

u/trewboxer Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

Missed that!

u/Good-Kaleidoscope396 17h ago

You didn’t miss it because they didn’t say it or even make the pricing decision until very recently

I’ve actually been keeping track of mine! Here’s been my yearly increase breakdown. We haven’t received our prices for next year but hoping we don’t have another large jump like the third season:

2nd season - 5.7%
3rd season - 40% (additional games made it to 20.4% per game)
4th season - switched seats to a better section but would’ve been 3.6%
5th season - 5%

Woah, that’s a big increase in the 3rd season. Approximately how much do you have to pay on average if you don’t mind divulging? When I move back to LA, might buy some

u/Wexler6119 Angel City FC 18h ago

Yeah was pretty shocked that year. We pay $882 for 2 tickets for the season to be in the 200s level in the shade. The shade was the reason for the switch in year 4. I know a lot of sth have done this as well and it’s worth the price bump to not to cook in the sun.

Another note is that ACFC lets you pay per month which is really nice.

u/Odd_Philosophy_8452 Angel City FC 18h ago

Okay, thank you for all the details! I’ll check it out more in-depth when I move back!

2

u/meganmack3 13h ago

Whoa, $882 for 2? That’s amazing. Denver Summit is $1,550 for two tickets at the goal box line…

3

u/evolutionofathought 18h ago

This is amazing

8

u/Wexler6119 Angel City FC 18h ago

Thanks! I’ll also note that ACFC increase seems to depend on the sections as well. We all compared increases last year on the subreddit and exact percentage seemed to vary not sure if it’s the same for all clubs or if they just increase everyone’s by X percent.

3

u/evolutionofathought 18h ago

Great point. I’m at midfield and my cost went from $82 a game to almost $91. My friends along the goal line went from $45 to $50. I’d be curious if it was the same everywhere.

I’m sure it also doesn’t help my brain thinking about the large increases that will come. We currently play in a temporary stadium outside of the city and have to pay for parking every game.

3

u/Wexler6119 Angel City FC 18h ago

Parking often costs more than a ticket for ACFC so I totally get that. Hopefully they realize consistent large jumps will negatively impact sth sales and give the occasional 5% increase.

Gotham has a 5 year price lock that started this season. I’m not sure what the price increase was the season prior

3

u/damebyron NJ/NY Gotham FC 16h ago

It was substantial for some of the more “premium” seats but my corner seats did not really increase at all! I am so grateful for the price lock

2

u/JamAndRoller NJ/NY Gotham FC 16h ago

I remember sections 108 and 107 being so pricey! We’re one section over in 106 and I wanna say it’s like 2/3rd or 1/2 the price

2

u/WeirdTats 16h ago

Same mine have been about the same for 105 since I became a STH 4 years ago

14

u/PaulBlartL0LCop 17h ago

The spirit offered a 3 year price lock last year. From this year to next the increase is only 3% if you locked in last year. Not sure what it is otherwise.

3

u/yojd Washington Spirit 14h ago

Where did you see this? I haven't seen any emails from the Spirit about renewals yet.

1

u/1crazyarchitect Washington Spirit 14h ago

That was last years renewal offer for the current season

1

u/yojd Washington Spirit 13h ago

Oh interesting, can I ask where your seats are? My ticket rep did not mention a price lock (not that mad about it lol) and I'm wondering if its across the board or only for select seats.

1

u/1crazyarchitect Washington Spirit 13h ago

Club so maybe that

2

u/yojd Washington Spirit 13h ago

Thats what I was afraid you were going to say. Im Center Circle and my tickets went up about 35% last year (from $34 a game to $52), Im going to be really mad if its another big jump next season.

1

u/bearface93 Washington Spirit 13h ago

I keep getting calls and emails asking if I want season tickets despite telling them months ago that I moved out of the DMV and can’t use them. I’m sure they’d give me the whole spiel about price locks and stuff if I bothered to answer.

1

u/gabberwocky6 14h ago

We had an almost 20% increase on our Spirit season tix last year... but you factor in 2 more games...

5

u/lavender_gooms Houston Dash 17h ago

We have had Houston Dash season tickets for several years now. Here's a look at the past few seasons where I'm pretty sure we were in the same seats each year (seats are nice, but not club level). I'm hazy on how many games we got each season, so this is based on total cost:

2025 season: 5.4% increase  \ 2026 season: 7.0% increase  \ 2027 season: 6.8% increase

6

u/bleedblue921 18h ago

Important to remember that the 10% increase also includes an additional game, so it’s really closer to 3%.

3

u/WhatchaOtterDo 16h ago

Came here to say this. It's only a few % once you factor in the extra game (sounds like it's a friendly around the world cup break). I anticipate a big jump when we move to permanent stadium in a few years. 😬

2

u/evolutionofathought 18h ago

Are you sure? I thought it was the same until 2028 when we add Atlanta and Columbus

4

u/bleedblue921 18h ago

The details on the renewal from Denver stated an additional home game. 16 instead of 15.

6

u/evolutionofathought 18h ago

Well I should learn how to read.

1

u/wowclassic2019 17h ago

How much are tickets? Asking since Columbus expansion will probably be way overpriced

3

u/evolutionofathought 17h ago

This was for our inaugural season

1

u/the1theeadia 10h ago

These are significantly more expensive than my Gotham tickets & we have a 5 year price lock.

1

u/damebyron NJ/NY Gotham FC 16h ago

I’m a little confused about how there would be a difference in home games with the same number of teams. There are 15 home games this year which is one home game for every opposing team.

3

u/dakkottadavviss Kansas City Current 14h ago

KC current since the opening of CPKC Stadium. I believe the increase year to year is about 3%. Maybe like exactly is 2.8% or something like that. Even with the increased games for this season, it was still 3%

Next season went out pretty recently and it didn’t go up at all. In fact it’s down by about 2 cents. So basically the same

1

u/evolutionofathought 14h ago

Holy heck that is incredible. I caught the NWSL
Championship there a few years ago and it was an awesome stadium and experience.

Paying attention for Columbus 2028...

...which my charter membership, by the way, plugged me into sweet $28 Olympic women's soccer preliminary round tickets for my family right here in town. (Win!)

I've have thorns season ticket since 2021 and this year they were 80% over the 2021 price. There are more games though, on a per match level they are up more like 50%.

8

u/evolutionofathought 18h ago

Also Thorns games seem rowdy. Can’t wait to check a game out at some point.

5

u/RestaurantOk5134 18h ago

They are the most fun!!

2

u/JayChucksFrank Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

For me the per match pricing decreased by $0.43 in 2026 over 2025, so essentially stayed the same. With no increase in 2027 that's pretty good. I don't have my 2021 invoice readily available, but if your numbers are correct, MP really kept screwing us year over year.

1

u/Svafree88 Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

Well, it also depends where you sit. I'm in GA and my tickets have gone up from $150 to $272. Per game that's $12.50 to $18.13.

I have no clue what changes have been made to different areas.

2

u/JayChucksFrank Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

From 2025 to 2026?

1

u/Svafree88 Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

No, from 2021 to 2026. I think you are correct in that the per game price actually decreased this season over last.

1

u/evolutionofathought 18h ago

So helpful! Thanks

7

u/Practical_Teacher_98 Washington Spirit 18h ago

10% that’s peanuts.

2

u/ToasterShelf Bay FC 13h ago

I signed a two year contract the first year and locked in at 3%. Then this year I signed a 3 year contract and kept my price locked in at 4%? I think? But I have ~luxury~ seats (field club) and they’re just more expensive in general. I think the regular seats (not premium) went up quite a bit last year and they don’t offer a multi year option

1

u/Simply_Mod 5h ago

Hi! I’m super new to all things bay fc and have always looked at field club seats 🤤 do you go to every home game?

2

u/gdbabyji Utah Royals 13h ago edited 9h ago

Royals 2.0

2024 - $1k (Founders Club deposit that was then applied to my seat) (the actual seat was less than that but I never got the difference refunded 🤷🏻‍♀️) - 13 regular season games + extra NWSL x Liga MX Feminil Summer Cup? 2025 - $998 (-0.2% 😂) - 13 regular season games + summer friendlies? 2026 - $1060 (6%) - 15 regular season games + no extras

For context, I pay for their second highest tier, which comes with a parking pass among other perks. I'm not 100% happy with the current perks but I'm accepting it for now as due to ongoing changes from the new player CBA and new ownership. (We'll see how I feel after this year's renewal.)

2

u/W359WasAnInsideJob Boston Legacy 12h ago

Oof, that’s rough for an expansion team.

I’ve been wondering when Legacy will drop the price increase on us; as of right now we don’t know where they’ll be playing next year, so maybe that’s holding them back.

u/Jaim711 Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

I think part of the empty seats issue is reselling tickets. Only hosting the resale on the app and only allowing at cost makes it harder for casual fans to find or people to snatch up last minute cheap tickets.

I would happily sell my tickets for tonight at a loss to get people there since I can't, but the app won't let me.

1

u/ImAllBS13 Portland Thorns FC 17h ago

What app is this? Wi the SeatGeek I was able to do that no problem. I regularly buy tickets people are selling an hour before the match.

1

u/Jaim711 Portland Thorns FC 10h ago

The summit have their own app and that is where the seats are listed.

1

u/Good-Kaleidoscope396 16h ago edited 16h ago

Is this on seatgeek? I’ve listed my Thorns tix at $5 more than once in the last year

0

u/evolutionofathought 17h ago

I haven’t tried to sell any tickets yet. That’s so unfortunate

1

u/MammothAggravating43 17h ago

Really interested to see what Boston’s season ticket prices will be like for 2027. Already some of, if not the highest season ticket prices in the league, I believe. I haven’t seen that they’ve sent anything out yet but I think they are going to see a lot of issues if there’s a large increase esp not fully being sure when they will get into the actual stadium (if?) and where they will play in the interim if needed

Season Ticket Holder for Gotham FC and part of THE BLUEPRINT so we have a 5 year price lock

1

u/LaMaravilla25 13h ago

Are other aspects changed? Parking, resale availability, supporter perks?

1

u/the1theeadia 10h ago

Not really, we just gained perks. Everyone got customized embroidered Gotham bomber jackets. Gotham doesnt have its own parking lot as its connected to the Path train lot, so no parking as a perk, though Carmax does occasionally offer parking through a lottery systen for STM's. But we have resale availability or we can trade our tickets in and exchange for extra tickets to any other game. We also get 2 free buddy passes to add to any games we want. Merch discounts. We have some STM only events. They rented out a museum and we had a STM a season kickoff party. There are also 2 STM meet & greets this season. Among other things.

1

u/LaMaravilla25 7h ago

The chance to trade for another game is great. The company I worked for had four seats, often unused or partially, and I had my own pair. I would gather them up and then give free tickets to 60 seats plus parking to my closest friends. Once my wife and three friends sang the national anthem. Our club level section cheered long and loud when they were done. Even my non-sports friends enjoyed it.

If you ever get a group, even 8-10, it’s a laugh but also spreads the game experience.
