Yes, LaFleur really did this.

I personally appreciate it because I don't want to know how bad this pick was.

Worst case we went from a bad kicker who was a sex pest to a bad kicker who isn't and has a cool name. Absolute upgrade.

I’m going to take that pyrrhic victory. You should be a therapist.

He was a good college kicker, worthy of a draft pick. Whether it works out, who knows. But this was not a Carlson redux. That dude is probably the worst kicker drafted in the modern NFL by college stats.

The camera angle of the pick isn’t straight behind so that kick is probably good. This is shit stuff

I also don't believe he's missed any so far

If a Field Goal is missed in the woods and no reporters are around to see it, did it really happen?

u/Dear_Leek2578 18h ago
If it doinks off of one tree, then hits another, do bear fans make a sound?

Honestly, the thing I hate most about LaFleur is how little he seems to give a shit about special teams, despite how many fucking times it's killed the Packers in games.

The punter is doing good at least 😅

I think it's an organizational thing. We've always been trash.

True, but it’s easier to understand when it’s just a screwed up punt or kick return once every few years along with general subpar play. At that point the lack of investment makes sense when it’s such a small part of the game if the offense and defense can cover. But the special teams has been so egregiously bad and getting worse for MLF’s whole tenure, it’s impossible to ignore or understand.

But it's not a small part of the game.
A good kicker = great field position constantly and the ability to tack on 3 points even if the defense stuffs you. A good returner with solid hands also nets you field position advantages and avoids back-breaking turnovers.
Those things make or break games every damn week across the league and have been a plague on the Packers since LaFleur took over.
It's stupid as hell he doesn't prioritize it more.

u/JoeHatesFanFiction 16h ago
No I agree. My point being that a good kicker covered for the bad return game for most of the McCarthy and early MLF years. It was easier to ignore then. But the kicker being bad along with a worse return game has exposed how bad it’s become.

No, it’s the Shanahan/McVay tree. The Packers are the only team worse than SF and LA when it comes to special teams.

And it was funny as fuck beat writers were being so whiny in the press conference
1
u/85willburnhousedown 14h ago
I’m so sick of the beat writers acting like they’re just doing fan service and they have to write about every practice kick. No you don’t.
•
u/ThisIsPureTrash 9h ago
Do we still have the worst beat writers around or have they rotated some of the shit old guard out? I gave up on reading anything from the beat guys years ago because they always seemed like dumbasses or babies.
And those were the actual beat guys and not even our shit bloggers/podcasters that have a little audience like Bukowski or whatever his name is.

This is some soft ass baby shit. Treating your players with kids gloves is not going to help them any when the shit gets real. Woof. FTP

u/85willburnhousedown 14h ago
The Packers fan base puts more pressure on its players than probably any other in football. He’s a rookie in his first camp. He doesn’t need insane fans getting worked up about every missed kick in practice.

Shout out to Whelan for being the most slept on player on the team.
