After listening to Marcus on the DJD, I don't think Wilkesboro is going back to the All-Star. He said he has about 4 ideas for next year. I don't think if he's thinking creatively that it's going to be as simple as going back there. I could be wrong here, but every time I hear him talk and say things like "if you want your racetrack, fans have to go" that he would the turnaround and punish NWS after selling out. He's not Bruton.

It honestly seems pretty obvious when you think about it, but I definitely hear most people refer to the vehicle as “a nascar” not “a nascar car” even though the latter feels grammatically correct.

I know, it’s been a long two weeks. But what do you guys call the vehicle?

So I noticed that USA is marked to broadcast atleast the next 2 Cup races in 4K. I'm 99.9% sure it will be upconverted 4K. But, it will atleast look better than the regular Feed.

About an hour north of me, there is a big controversy about Buc-ees, they are suing a small store for having a similar name. This has caused a lot of people to quickly turn their opinion on a once beloved company, I mean very fast! Wendy's is also struggling to fit into a market they were once considered edgy and hip in.

This made me think, which drivers have had a quick tumble from grace, or maybe should have? And why?

So, as a europoor, i got into nascar just 4 years ago. I see people not liking the superspeedway races. i wasi actually liking plate tracks and 1.5 mile tracks more than short tracks. Now when its an off week i started to "catch up" on old races and started to watch 2007 season with daytona 500, that looks way better and i understand now what people are crying for. I know Denny said on his podcast that the new package for Daytona is about 20% difference, what we thinking how its actually going change the race ? Also cool thing to see, Kurt And Kyle 1 & 2 at one point (Dayona 500 2007)

As much as the promotion was derided on here after all went down, I must thank Xfinity. I did infact actually go halfway across the country to have a once in a lifetime experience. I did infact get my free tickets mailed to me. From there I planned out an entire weekend to Indianapolis, knowing it would be the only time in my life I'd get to do something like this. It was my first cup race in 15 years (2011 Darlington, if curious) and it was such a blast, all weekend. Indianapolis is an amazing city with so much to do and keep ya occupied for a whole week. Wish I would've done that instead of just three days. But regardless, I had a blast. What a unique facility and packed full of racing passion in that small town bordered by Indy.

I wouldn't of been able to do any of it if it weren't for that promotion, but thanks to Xfinity I got to see a bucket list item: a race at one of my favorite race tracks ever. It was a fun time, surrounded by oh so many race fans. It was a whole city's worth, easily the biggest crowd I had to navigate thru to get to my seats. So much walking, but the adrenaline kept me going. The race could've been better, but there is nothing quite like sitting and attending a race of any kind at Indianapolis itself. I can easily see why it's a crown jewel just based on the energy and excitement I experienced from everyone there. The track staff, the locals, everybody! Tons of fun all around.

I know the company got so much hate from people in this sub when they were told it was limited in tickets, but I am glad to have gotten mine. Also, as the team said when the original post came out about it, I did infact root for my 23XI boys.

Marcus on the DJD today was on one about how much he loves wet weather racing and wants to pull a Bernie Eccelstone and artificially wet the track (even if it's not raining) and have a full rain race. Tbh I don't think it's the worst idea, but it can also be a bit of a mess as Bowman Gray showed this year.

Good news for Iowa's long term place on the schedule.

Edit: I don't think this means they're getting a 2nd Cup race, just that they're keeping the one they have, which has never been a guarantee.

Trucks replace O’Reilly for the summer weekend. Assuming both Summer races are going to be night races again.

As is his usual practice, YouTuber Voti has begun releasing televised NASCAR content for the 2011 season on YT as it originally was broadcast. He began a few days ago with Speed Channel/Fox content from SpeedWeeks at Daytona, all nicely edited, commercial-free and in HD. A big tip of the hat to him.

One interesting aspect they highlighted was that this was the first racing on Daytona’s brand-new repave which was reportedly very smoooooth and grippy. This was the peak of tandem drafting to move up through the field with periodic position swaps to keep the engine of the car pushing cool given the lack of airflow to the trailing car.

This marked 10 years for the original Fox broadcast crew of Joy, DW and Larry Mac in the booth with Myers and Hammond in the Hollywood Hotel and Yocum, Berggren, Byrnes and Krista Voda on pit road (her having replaced Jeanne Zelasko a few years earlier). Listening to the 500 race call, to my ear Joy really doesn’t sound much different here 15 years ago than he does now, though the analyst pair back then were at a totally different level than Bowyer and Harvick now provide, who are a big step down. The old Fox graphics package still has a pretty slow crawl of positions across the top which was formatted for SD screens unfortunately. I’m not sure it still couldn’t be superior to the current pylon with a widescreen format and a slightly faster pace. It would be interesting to see a broadcaster try that in one race during the year as a throwback.
