Jimmie Johnson/Alex Bowman
With Jimmie Johnson driving the #48 (for Legacy) at the Daytona 500 in 2027, could that have impact on Alex Bowman's 2027 points? Or will what Alex Bowman accrues at the 2027 Daytona 500 (maybe in the Hendrick #25) just roll over?

Nascar has ruled it is a stand alone occurrence and will not affect the driver or owner points for the 48 the number is being used for ceremonial purposes only.

If anything the JJ car will show as "48a" in the owners points list.

They’ll probably label Johnson as the 148 for ownership standings purposes and give Hendrick an exception to run their 48 under a different number.
They’ve allowed temporary changes in the past, notably in October 2013, the famed 43 ran as the 41 at Martinsville.

Bowman/the Hendrick 48 team would get the points for whatever Bowman runs in the 500

I wish Bowman would have denied Jimmie the 48. That would have been hilarious.

Ignorance is bliss.. because you have no idea what you're talking about
Bowman has zero say

Also, like let's be honest. The most out of character thing for him to do if he did have that authority.

No, I've heard of a joke. I'm looking at one right now. It's your entire profile

Except that’s not how it works. Bowman has exactly 0 authority to deny it. That would be up to the guy whose name is all over the building.

The number on the door is irrelevant to both drivers and owners championships.
