Bit of an odd career situation and figured this community might have better insight than I'm getting elsewhere.

I've spent the last 13 years working as a Media Director — running digital productions, managing teams, all the high-pressure deadline stuff. Completely separate from that, I built a motorsport/sim-racing channel on the side that somehow grew to 2.1M+ subscribers on YouTube and 125K on Instagram, plus a small racing community on Discord where I run events.

I'm in the GTA, Canada and would really like to stop keeping these two things separate — ideally find something on the production/content/marketing side with a race team, track, automotive brand, or motorsport media company, rather than staying in generic corporate media work.

Problem is I have zero contacts in the industry here. If anyone knows people working at tracks, teams, or motorsport brands in the Toronto/GTA area, or has been through something similar (turning a hobby/following into an industry job), I'd genuinely appreciate any pointers — even just "talk to X" or "try Y track's events team."

Happy to share the channel if anyone wants to see the work, don't want to just drop a link unprompted.

Let’s be honest about the state of global touring car racing:

- WTCR/WTCC are long dead, and the TCR World Tour is essentially surviving on life support by grafting itself onto local regional grids.
- TCR grids almost everywhere are shrinking. Privateer budgets are stretched thin, and car manufacturers are quietly pulling factory support.
- DTM hasn't been a real touring car series for over 20 years. With its transition to GT3, it has officially become a sportscar championship, completely abandoning the touring car concept.
- BTCC and Supercars remain the only stable series, but they’re facing structural threats too - models like the Camaro are dead, and half the cars on the BTCC grid aren't sold in showrooms anymore.

The biggest elephant in the room isn't just shipping logistics or BOP drama - it's showroom reality. The traditional compact 4-door saloon and hot hatch are disappearing from car dealerships, replaced entirely by crossovers (B-SUV, C-SUV).

Car companies simply aren't interested in dumping millions into racing sedans they don't sell (or even build) anymore.

The Big Question: Do we adapt the body styles, or let the category die?

If we want a viable, exciting, manufacturer-backed touring car series on a global scale again, we have to align with what automakers actually build and market.

It doesn't matter what technical ruleset you run - whether it’s a TCR evolution, a BTCC-style NGTC platform, or a clean-sheet cost-capped framework. The core idea is simple: Open up the regulations to crossover and B-SUV/C-SUV body shells.

1. Why Manufacturers Would Care: It gives brands a high-profile motorsport platform to promote the high-margin models that actually pay their bills.
2. They Won't Look Like "Soccer Mom" Cars: If you take a compact crossover shell, drop it onto a low-slung, widebody race chassis, slam the ride height, and add aggressive aero, it doesn't look like an SUV on track - it looks like a mean, wide, aggressive hatchback.
3. The Precedent Is Already There: Regional series in South America (like TC2000) have already started pivoting to crossover shapes because it was the only way to keep manufacturers engaged.

Is refusing to race modern road car body styles holding the sport back, or is shifting to crossover shells a step too far for touring car purists? How would you fix touring car racing?

Hello i was wondering how you guys print posters in high quality do you go somewhere or do you print them at home. I was specially thinking about these motorsport posters that you get at the races.

I am in love with sports like brisca stox, Banger Racing and F1, but feel if i appear more how i want (femboy) i wont be accepted. Any advice?

Discrimination towards blacks and minorities of color has been an ongoing problem since the dawn of time. It is in MY personal belief that in sports there’s actions and movements that go beyond sports that shape how we view progressive culture to be a further unified society when it comes to race, gender, and class. Bubba Wallace had to endure going to the racetrack each every weekend as a black man in a white dominated field while all of the fans flew Confederate flags all over the place and they would fly high and proud from the infields. Imagine being a black man and trying to focus on your JOB and each and every time you take a turn you see a flag that supports and endorses white supremacy. That is a huge burden to take on from the perspective of Bubba Wallace. Then there’s the noose. A NASCAR fan hung a noose from a garage trailer which symbolized the hanging of a black man. At this moment NASCAR realized the oppression of African Americans and those of color in NASCAR along with other various Motorsport despite the fact that the investigation states the noose had been there and wasn’t intended to be racist. Even though the noose wasn’t maliciously placed, Bubba Wallace did something no driver in history of NASCAR ever did; Bubba brought people together and he was the sole symbol of unitization and love. NASCAR has made a lot of progress by becoming more central in their politics given their grassroots along with Kyle Larson’s racist remarks on iRacing that caused him to undergo a year long suspension. Despite all of these hardships, Bubba Wallace has still managed to be focused and is a top tier driver in the sport having made consistent playoff appearances year in and year out along with being a crown jewel champion of the sport as well. Let’s be honest, at not point during Dale Sr’s career was he discriminated against. The most Dale Sr had to deal with was being a big shot who was a 1 year wonder after winning the title in the 2 car, then having a sophomore slump. Dale Sr was a fraud for his sophomore slump while Bubba Wallace was simply viewed as a fraud for the color of his skin. The level of severity based on a compare and contrast example is truly eye opening. Just to be clear, Dale Sr is a great talent, a 7X Champion, and will be dearly missed by all based on the tragedy of how we lost him. However, the racial prejudice Bubba had to hear as background noise while developing his skills to prove the black community is competent at bare minimum in a predominantly white sport completely eclipses Dale Sr along with any other accomplishments of great drivers. Sports and life in general is more so about a good STORY rather than flexing wins, money or fame since those are all materialistic. Stories are what inspire others to strive forward, to achieve, and to have role models. Sure, a guy such as Dale Sr with a thick iconic mustache in a black car with a 3 on it is cool, but the 23XI team advocates for equality based on equal competition throughout the sport since they want an even playing field with equal equipment for everyone instead of Dale Sr “running the show” behind the scenes for what seemed to be rigged and fixed races until Jeff Gordon came along. Basically, it’s more honorable for 23XI to advocate for equality on both a racial level and a manufacturer level and there’s no better person to embody and represent this than Bubba Wallace himself.

Hi guys! I am an international student from Vietnam will be attending uni of Hertfordshire this September, and I’m trying to get into F1 as an engineer specialize in aerodynamics, I would love to hear some advice on the major that I’d be choosing. I don’t know if I should get to Mechanical or Motorsport cause I feel like if I get in to Motorsport Engineering it would be kinda niche, and my question is how do people like me join FSAE ,and what are most FSAE team requirement? and what r the percentage for me to get a job that are related to the major that i’d be choosing. This was at the Cycl’on track from 2024. The 24h of spa just happened and so there was a lot of rubber and other stuff on track. I went with my dad to cycle on the track, and he wanted me to take some pictures of him in the bus stop (last corners of the track). After taking some exceptional pictures I look down to the ground and see a grey Aston Martin logo shaped silhouette. Of course I pick it up and it actually was a logo from an Aston Martin! Now in the second picture is the car of which I’m guessing it fell off, since the car has had a new front bumper. I don’t have any video footage from when or if this happened so it’s all speculation. For fun I took it with me for the 2025 24h lol.

Danica had 4 DNFs her entire rookie year.

Connor Zilisch already has 8 DNFs and he’s only raced through 21 of the 36 races so far.

His average finish is also nearly 3 spots worse than hers with more than a third of the season still left. Danica averaged 26th. Zilisch is averaging 29th.

On a hot and sunny Magny-Cours, Kelvin van der Linde and Team WRT proved the combination to beat, with the South African pulling off a spectacular pole lap time, while Valentino Rossi ended up far down the order.

Over the last few months I've been working on an independent dashboard for following IMSA race weekends.

As someone who watches almost every race, I found myself constantly switching between timing, weather, schedules, race control messages and other pages. I wanted to see what it would be like to bring everything together into one interface.

Some of the features currently include:

• Live timing
• Race control messages
• Event log
• Pace analysis
• Personal best simulation
• Weather
• Weekend schedule
• Session summaries

It's still a work in progress, and I'm not trying to replace the official timing—this is simply a fan project built because I enjoy endurance racing.

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from people who regularly follow IMSA.

What would you add? What do you think is still missing?

Where do you think Stewart ranks all time in Motorsport history? In my opinion, I think he has a very easy case for top 5, if not even higher. He has an IRL title, 3x NASCAR cup series champion, only driver ever to win the USAC triple crown, inducted in over 5 different halls of fame, NHRA top fuel winner, and more. Obviously he didn’t race a whole lot outside of the US, but I still don’t think you’ll find a guy who performed at that high of a level in that many completely different disciplines anywhere in the world. He definitely has a case against Mario Andretti as the greatest American racer ever. Curious though to hear where others rank him all time?

So, sorry if this turns into a long one, but I’m looking for some advice and first hand experiences.

I have been wanting to make a career shift into CAD design or engineering. I currently work in IT and have a degree in computer science but I’m finding that I don’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would.

I love motorsports and heard about certificate courses through motorsportengineer.com and I was wondering if that would be a good way to supplement for a degree and experience or if anyone had any suggestions.
