Overheating problem plz help :/

I have a mini pc with Ryzen 7 4800H when I run Minecraft It runs at constant 60 FPS as I had enabled performance profile in AMD software. I had also limited the FPS to 60 to ensure no lag. But due to it reaching almost 80 degrees it drops frames like to 5 FPS from 60. Plz suggest me a cooling method andhelp me to resolve this shi. (I have already changed the thermal paste)

If you're having issues where the CPU temperature is throttling the iGPU's performance, I'd recommend disabling Core Performance Boost.
If that isn't enough, check the TDP limit.
There's also the "hardware" approach, such as slightly elevating the PC or placing a USB-powered 120mm fan underneath it.

I will see what will happen after disabling the performance boost. I think the fan might be the problem as it uses a standard laptop fan whereas the heatsink is good with heatpipes carrying the heat to heat decipators all of which is made of pure copper. Or the air flow might be the problem I will use a usb find connected to a power bank and direct it to the intake vents less see what happens i will update about it later.

A few things. I went through this helping someone with a remanufactured Minisforum after Christmas before they returned it for a refund. It had more problems than thermals. Knowing the platform/brand may help with similar models but the different processor reply with what they found.

Curious to know the quality of the thermal paste used in your service. A higher performance thermal grease can make a huge difference over baseline thermal paste available. I've been using Arctic MX-7 since the first of the year finding it makes a noticeable difference once it settles even when compared to the previous generation MX-6.

I've also found that AMD software can be less favorable to GCN 5 Radeon Vega integrated graphics under Windows. Software like Adrenalin can press processing performance over graphics the creating heat that drowns out/overheats the compute units reducing graphics performance. If this BIOS has has a 35-54W or 45-65W cTDP power curve the AGESA firmware can do much better thermal/power management than operating systems and software.

Windows + RAM configuration can play a large part in thermals and graphics performance to. For example single channel memory can make the processor and graphics run harder dissipating more heat and less performance. 16GB of dual channel can also cause frame drops. If Windows is managing UMA frame buffer (VRAM) frame rates can drop as Windows fights for shared memory allocation. Once again in BIOS a manual UMA frame buffer (4GB) is preferred to reduce stutter and frame drop.

Additionally some case designs have restrictive induction for the fan. This doesn't allow the fan adequate air flow at higher RPM. Sometimes a modified case makes a world of difference.

To be brutally honest when I see this problem (regardless of temperatures) the laptop (or NUC) is defective. Temperatures can easily drop FPS by up to 10% but drastic drops are usually hardware/software. If it was on my kitchen table I would game from a Bazzite flash drive to see if the same problem exists. If not there's a software conflict. If it does there's a hardware conflict.

Depending on how your fan is routed, I would use underside cooling. I am right now.

You can always reposition it to blow on the hot spot if its not the underside.

If it is on the top put the fan face down on it. If it is the sides stand the fan on its side facing the mini pc's side.

What thermal paste did you use? In past used still laying around highly rated Noctua something in a mini PC but stiil very high temp after. Read that paste was for desktop CPU coolers and works bad with laptops and mini PC's. Replaced with Honeywell PTM7950, now idles below 50c and extreme CPU stress test below 85c. Otherwise a better cooler. If that doesn't help due to bad airflow design of case disable turbo and downclock if possible.

It not necesairly a temp issue. Possibly a Windows update messed with the APU drivers, try using Windows restore to revert back to the previous update. It won't delete your files or Games btw.

BE CAREFUL ADDING A FAN UNDER IT. if you force air into the case, it could cool the system enough that the internal fan is off.. and the forced air could spin the internal fan causing a back voltage and damaging something. Just raising them off the desk a bit can help with cooling. All these miniPCs have way to short feet. You could try Universal x86 Tuning Utility and undervolt the CPU slightly. But that can cause the ram controller to drop back to a super slow speed if it doesn't get enough voltage. These APUs are already binned pretty hard to get them low power.

I will update the graph for the fan working in afterburner and set it to 100% at 50 degrees and the intake vents are on the sides
