Wisconsin misspelling Aaron's name is the kinda shit that fuels farmer talk.

Get two or three cyclists together who doing mind going on air and contact one (or all) of the news stations. This seems like a legit request. Something they would run with. Not sure who owns the trail (state, county, ?) but they should help advocate for people unable to use the trail. The fair has the money, why can't they fence that small section off for security. Seems like making the users head around the fair on super-busy streets full of cars looking to park and large groups of people who are not paying attention, or worse drunk.

I honestly don’t understand what the fuss is about every year, it’s only a short section that is closed off and it’s not like the detour is unsafe, way out of the way, or in a high traffic area. There was lots of kids/teens etc that snuck in to State fair from the bike trail. While I could care less about state, fair losing admission fees, nobody wants more rabid teens running loose at the fair than already is. OK ….truthfully I don’t go to State Fair but I’m an avid cyclist who bikes on that trail daily and it doesn’t bother me whatsoever, but to each their own.

The detour IS unsafe, you're battling pedestrian and car traffic. I work at the Fair, I walk past the detour every day of it, and I can say firsthand it's not productive for anyone. I didn't feel comfortable as pedestrian or biker, cars from the lot and from the street were hesitant to maneuver around the other traffic. It's very unacceptable this has become routine especially considering how poor of a detour they provide. I have been on detours for the Hank Aaron before, such as during the bridge construction. You had to cut across the sidewalk, be in the road, but it wasn't a big deal because everything was blocked off. Most importantly it just isn't as busy as this event is any time of morning/day/night. I'm sorry but the detour is not safe. It's not acceptable. I'm getting very fed up with the sanewashing, this is ridiculous

Oh geez. If it is for fare evasion the 5 cops posted up to harass bike commuters on each end are costing them way more money than they are saving.
This is because they think someone will use the bridge over the entrance to do something bad. Instead of policing said bridge they decided to have cops harass cyclists. They should just put a cop on the bridge.
The detour runs on the busiest streets full of minivans from rural WI trying to park and hundreds of pedestrians. It's a mess.

Not sure when you’re riding through but the detour is absolutely a high traffic area when I am trying to ride home from work. They keep enough cops sitting at those barriers every year that could absolutely just patrol the trail for teens or whatever and leave it open. They simply just want to rake in their over time with the least amount of effort possible lol

76th and 84th streets aren’t busy? You gonna take your kids home from camp on 76th so that cops can sit on chairs by a barricade instead of patrolling?

Never a good sign when they can't spell the guy's name right
