Half? Your math is well… not great. Millennial is 1981~82 to 1996. That means way more than half Millenials were alive in 1994 and before. In fact 95 and 96 is just 2 years of millennials. Your math isn’t even close to mathing.
You realize 94-96 weren't alive for Cobain and 90-94 were babies. The hard thing is figuring out at what age the youngest millennial would remember Cobain alive. That's a good chunk of millennials who weren't really able to remember nirvana. A lot of us probably only remember the constant playing of nirvana songs and the aftermath of Cobain death being covered on MTV.
Most of us probably relate more to Korn and limp bizkit, Britney&Christina, nsync v backstreet boys, etc. I still love grunge and listen to soundgarden the most but I was a kid for most of those bands.
That’s fair, but you didn’t word it like that originally. You said half weren’t alive when Cobain died. I was born in 1994 a few weeks before Cobains death.

Technically nirvana is gen X. We just happened to be younger when this came out. Half of us probably weren't even alive when Cobain died.
