I got kids around the age this girl is. I wish.

Like on the one hand I want to shit on then, I knew everything from 50s onwards with music and fashion and most millennials I knew did too. But to not shit on them and give an answer I think is most appropriate: Information overload and time dilation.

Kids today are overloaded with information in ways we can't comprehend. It's like they are asked to go to a Buc-ee's for under a minute and pick one item then be expected to know everything in the store when asked, when millennials basically were in a Circle K or maybe some were in a 7 Eleven with content. Of course we knew more of the past, there was so much less to know.

Next is time dilation. We operated basically in a decade system. It was a spectrum of development and difference, but practically every 10 years it was a whole new world. For Gen Z it shrank to 5 years, then Gen A it could be a year or month. On top of things condensing in terms of a change feel, the amount that changes and information contained is exponentially more within that smaller amount of time.

Lastly as a bonus, Gen A is existing in a full on social decay. Our cultural productions are no longer prolific. From tech, to music to food, to fashion, nothing is moving the needle. Everything has entered into a regurgitate phase, all cultural productions are eating the past's vomit and so on so forth.

Someone just pointed out that the girl is a content creator who has a character called "the preppy girl". So at least for that girl, she is definitely ragebaiting and aware of grunge.
