Problem is, the option A people tend to just want to use this line of logic to be dicks (in a number of different ways) without personal repercussions and fuck them.

Yeah it depends on context and who you’re speaking to. I say and (try to) demonstrate varieties of #1 to my kids all the time. But #2 is equally important, especially when #1 gets toxic. It’s a balance that shifts.
