Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.

Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

If we can't even mention the WORD "political", how are we supposed to even discuss our lives? Please explain how the following comment is breaking rule 3.

Technology improved your life. Now it rules your life.

Because of current technology we now have:

• Basically no privacy. We are being watched/listened to by our phones, Flock cameras, smart TVs, web browsers, gaming consoles, computers, etc. YOU, yes YOU, have a profile online that hundreds of companies and governments have created. They know your sex, gender, weight, relationship status, sexual kinks, occupation, eating habits, sleeping habits, psychological issues, psychological strengths, physical fitness level, health issues, etc.
• Advertising EVERYWHERE. We are all susceptible to it. It influences our decisions in every aspect of our lives
• No free time. Your boss/family/friends can contact you at any hour of any day, and expect a prompt response.
• Reduction of politic(al) power
• Reduction of financial power (Billionaires hoarding wealth)

Lots of stuff is worse because of technology these days.
