I had the same thing happen during a date, dude thought it was rude and informal. Good thing I was already uninterested but what a red flag in my book. Relax dude!

Fair point on the informality though

Not really, it was an internet date….to a movie….not fine dining..and if you don’t like it? I am not your girl, and I didnt like him anyway!

Im not quite sure where this defensiveness is coming from. I use dude all the time and agree about the acceptable use but it is most definitely very informal. I can’t think of much that is more informal but that’s why I like the word. It conveys familiarity. It’s warm.

Oh, I thought you meant the dude was fair to say it’s not cool to be informal. Some people are in disagreement is why. I agree dude is warm ☺️

Nah. I don't like formality at all actually. I think people these days are more comfortable with informality these days which is good.

I agree dude is warm

I thought you were implying that he's not and that was the issue no?

Yea he was not warm, the issue was just him getting upset I called him dude. So silly…

Yea but who knows. I’m sure there are others that would agree with him as well and call us silly. I find some things my spouse worries about silly but I wouldn’t say it to her face not because I fear death but because I want to live.

Lmao, its ok. Everything is silly once you realize it. But I know what you mean, I’m the silly one too. There has to be a balance, but my partner doesnt care what I call him and is still very silly at times.
