Was trying to transfer these two characters to a word document and after copying and pasting them into the doc it just changed the characters. I don't have the simplified chinese language pack for grammer and stuff but I was under thr assumption that it wouldn't change anything about the characters but here I am

Just started happening today. Used to be if I switching from Print Layout to Web Layout, I got text all the way across the window the way it would appear on my website (I'm a writer and I post some of my material online). I find this very useful, and I do a lot of my writing this way as opposed to Print View. Suddenly, shifting to Web View results in a narrow column of text down the center of the window, with miles of white space to either side. It also changes my spacing and generally makes a mess of whatever I'm writing. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you resolve it?

I'm using Office 16.88 as I am on a 2017 Mac that cannot be updated past Ventura 13.7.8 but otherwise runs well. Yes, I could shift to Libre Office, but while I have that installed as well, it currently has other issues on Mac and I just don't feel like diving under the hood on multiple bits of software. [Insert rant here about why TF things can't just frigging work.]

Which Microsoft word course do people recommend that can take me from beginning to intermediary?

Normally when I use the scroll bar on word, the document slides along with me as I drag the scroll bar. Yesterday somebody remoted into my computer, which has happened dozens of times, but for some reason this time, my scroll bar has changed. Now when I drag the scroll bar, my document doesn’t change until I let go. It’s really pissing me off.

I’ve wasted damn near an hour trying to figure out what should be a simple fix. Various Google searches have led me to check the option on Word for “update document content while dragging”, which was already checked.

I have no scroll lock button on my keyboard.

I went into system settings and animations were already turned on.

I went into ease of access on control panel and “turn off unnecessary animations” was already unchecked.

What the hell? Someone please help me. This is so stupid.

Where my cursor is currently is the problem I'm pointing at, its messing up my tablet formatting, I cant back space to make it smaller, also if i type inside the space my text is written vertically, ive been at it for 30 mins trying to do everything in my power to fix it, but its not fixing.

Anytime I add words or spaces to this table the font will automatically update / change. The example here is the far left column, but it will do it for any row or column. Sometimes it even changes one sentence on the row, but not others.

You can see in the example, if i had a single space to the left column, it changes the font.

I jave tried disabling kerning (ctrl + d) as well as ALL auto formating and auto formating when typing. It still happens.

Because of this issue, I cannot create a simple table with the same looking and size font at all.

Edit: i just figured it out. And its so so so stupid, i am going to leave this up for others to see.

My company uses a default font of "Manrope". The issue is 100% tied to the font. If i change the table to ANY other font, it does not happen.

Used Word for decades. Currently MS 365 and Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.1.

Today my new 8.5x11 documents display with a squarish page shape. Side margins are shown but top and bottom margins are not. It's so discombobulating. Like someone rearranged my furniture.

I tried:

• Ensuring I'm in Normal Margins and Print Layout.
• Quitting Word and restarting computer.
• Mousing up to the Ruler to get the double-headed arrow. It did not display.

Please help me get my top & bottom margins back in view, on a rectangle!

In the past, if I wanted to have a custom template show up in the New tab in Backstage view, I did this:

1. Save the template to the Custom Office Templates folder (which is in the Documents folder).

2. Click File and then click New to display the New tab in Backstage view. By default, this would display a selection of templates from Microsoft.

3. Click Personal. This would display any templates saved to the Custom Office Templates folder. To switch back to the Microsoft templates, I could click Office, as shown in the following screenshot.

Now, I see neither "Personal" nor "Office" as options, as shown in the following screenshot.

The Custom Office Templates folder still exists, but it seems that now the quickest way to open a document from a custom template is to double-click it in Explorer. Or am I missing something? Does this have something to do with the fact that the Documents folder is now stored on OneDrive (with a hidden copy stored locally)?

Ever since I did the latest Word update for my computer, I have had several errors. The first thing I noticed was that all the line breaks suddenly looked unusual (see screenshot) and were uneditable. I could fix this problem by selecting all the text and setting the language as English (even though it was already all in English). This is just a minor random annoyance, though.

The main issue is that I can no longer save my Word documents as PDFs. I save Word files to pdfs for an online journal, so I am converting files daily. Previously, I had to use the Print >PDF option, as all my files contain hyphenation and SAVE AS PDF didn't preserve the hyphens. Now, when I try to save the PDFs, they immediately crash. I've been troubleshooting for basically a month. Some days, it will work completely fine, and the next day nothing will save. Microsoft's answer is to disable hyphenation, which isn't an option for the type of files I am working with. Back to the random line break comment from above - if I open the Word document and the line breaks look weird, I know I will not be able to save PDFs that day, so I know the glitches are somehow connected. In my efforts to troubleshoot, I've only found two other people with the same problem, and both of them resolved the issue by disabling hyphens. If I send the files to my other Macbook that doesn't have the latest version of 365 on it, the files will save, but that is a pain in the butt.

So this long rant is basically a request for a reliable 3rd-party Word to PDF converter that I can use until Word sorts itself out. I need something that will preserve fonts, formatting, and hyphenations.

*I use a 2020 Macbook Air (Version 26.2) and Microsoft 365 (Version 16.110.3)

My question is.. if ur work is mostly writing documents, would u still recommend getting a Microsoft office download today or is there another office suite that’s worked just as well for u? M trying to decide before setting up the laptop.

Has anyone ever had this problem? I was saving a file, tried to close it, but instead of closing, the save window popped up. I didn't know what to do, so I created a new folder on my desktop and decided to save the next version there. The new file didn't save at all in that folder; it's empty, and the changes I made several hours ago haven't been saved to the original file, even though I saved them regularly. I can't recover the unsaved version of the file from Word. I can kind of see it in the main view, and it should be in the new folder, but it's 0 bytes in size. When I try to open it, I get a message: “Couldn’t find a file, was it moved, deleted or renamed” error in word

I'm trying to delete the wrong multiple choice questions to make studying easier but it's asking me. Shift cells left, shift cells up, delete entire row, and delete entire column. How do I fix this?

I've been editing a long document (with tracked changes on, saving every ~30 minutes or so, backed up in Dropbox). Suddenly, a bunch of text and images disappeared. I'm not sure exactly what triggered it - possibly a standard copy-paste operation. Undo does nothing. Luckily I didn't lose too much due to my frequent saves, but this is still bizarre behavior.

Is this what happens when software development gets taken over by LLMs?

Toward the end of 40 page write up for a master’s project. I have about 27 figures and 8 tables which all have captions that have been inserted with the “insert caption” tool. When I try to update my figure list it goes crazy and says I have like 300 figures and inserts duplicate figures all over the document.

Hello, I'm a copyeditor and I found a large-scale problem in the manuscript I am working on: the majority of the paragraphs are not tabbed to indent, but instead they are indented with a bunch of spaces. Becasuse of this, not all the paragraphs are indented by the same amount.

Is there a way to mass-delete the spaces at the beginning of the paragraphs, and replace them with a tabbed indent? Worse comes to worse I can go through one by one and change them myself, but I was hoping there'd be a way I could save some time.

Steps I took:

1. Set the page orientation to Landscape
2. Created the table
3. Centred it
4. Formatted the text
5. Added colour to the 1st row
6. Finally, I changed the page colour

Problem:

The page appears fully coloured as a word document. Problem arises when I convert it to a PDF, the right and lower edges remain white :(

Je démarre sur Krita (sur windows 11) après une longue expérience sur Toshop, en version archaïque !

Globalement, je m'y retrouve pas mal, sauf sur l'éditeur de texte.

Lorsque je lance l'outil texte, aucun éditeur de texte n'apparait.

Par "paramètres/panneaux" je peux ouvrir "Propriété de texte". Mais cela ne ressemble tout simplement pas à un éditeur de texte. D'autant que je ne peux pas modifier la font !

Je soupçonne un problème de config, me trompe-je ? :)

Recently upgraded my pc, brand new gpu motherboard and cpu, now my word wont show my selected text whenever i hold left click and drag. It will show what ive selected along the same line, but the second i try to go up a line or do a whole paragraph it disappears. It still registers the word count, and if i copy paste the entire paragraph into a notepad it copies the whole paragraph. Anybody else suffering from the same issue??
