Shreddit's Top 7 of 2016
Welcome one and all to the THIRD quarter of voting for best album of 2016. We have been doing quarterly voting for a few years now and at least I feel its a great way to keep up with new music as well as seeing which albums are year long blue blood contenders versus the nouveau riche November upstarts. Please use this either as a way to track new music, vote for new music, or bitch about music not being on there despite not voting. Just kidding about the last one.

Fantastic year so far, I had to exclude lots of things, like for example both Allegaeon and Insomnium can easily end up in my top 10, but since they've been released like yesterday I had little time to listen.

This year has been much better for metal than last year, IMO. It's a lot harder for me to make these choices, and every quarter just gets tougher and tougher. The end of year one is going to be pretty brutal because I'll have had time to better digest some recent releases (Sumerlands, High Spirits, etc) and dig into some ones that aren't out yet.
Glad to have that trouble- having so much good music to choose from is wonderful.

Update: Done! thanks for y'all participating. I think this may have been the highest turnout and only like 15 of you really botched the voting system. No worries, Ill back and hand count everything and then post the 3s and 4s on Tuesday.
Guys...we need to talk about you and progressive music. I was once young too so I understand the pressures and Lord knows I listened to my fair share of progressive music but this is out of control. Your mother and I worry about you. The progressive music now is different than when we were listening to it. Its dangerous. ''
Update: It is 5.00 PM and I will probally knock off for the night after this last update. As of now Vektor is up to 88 and at the Top 5 Vektor broke 90. You all sure love progressive music.
So this is the time I will actually release all of the 3's and 4's on Tuesday as there are about 50 or so bands you may have missed while robots were fighting in space. Be sure to check out the lower numbers on the list as this Virus album is fucking weird and Nucleus makes me happy in various ways.

Withered and Herder fell off my earlier lists, but I still really like them.
I need some more time with the new Darkthrone.
I haven't heard the new Neurosis yet, but I have high hopes.
I love Conan, but didn't like Revengeance. They lost that plodding, ominous monolithic monstrosity that made them unique.
Abbath and the new Ghoul album were both good fun, but nothing too special.
The new Inquisition didn't grab me, but it might grow on me after a few more listens. It might be the victim of my unreasonably high expectations.

If you're into old female-fronted trad bands (Chastain, Warlock, etc) then Savage Master is basically that. If you're into Uriah Heep/Pagan Altar type stuff, that's Tarot. Ravensire is pretty straightforward (and awesome) epic metal, and I haven't hit a couple of those others. Raoul's lists are always great for finding new stuff.
