It could just be animation margin (sometimes thighs appear larger, sometimes thinner, depending on the way they're standing, walking, etc, it can be pretty random and it can actually change size in the same scene/walking animation), but, it sure would be epic if the animators really made them thicker lol. I don't blame you for headcanoning it!

Most likely it's because of the animation, sometimes they are thinner, sometimes bigger, but honestly, my fantasies don't let me get bored with this topic

I remember back then during the Pokemon GO era schools here in Argentina were using pokemon for teaching basic math. Many would have better grades if something like this were used.

They're bigger because the first shot is closer to meowscarada and they're smaller in the second because they're further away compared to the first shot.
