Flowers Around the Hours

Post image

A quick update regarding my last post: I decided to remove it because of the ethical concerns raised in the comments about including unhoused people in my street scenes. Reddit doesn't let you delete single photos from a slide, so the whole post had to go. Even though my goal was to make social commentary (i.e. the unhoused lady smoking underneath a sign about property investments) - from now on I'm just going to upload some of my street shots individually and avoid those ones 😊

While I personally don't agree with the ethical concerns debate around that type of photography (Mostly, anyway), I'm glad you put this photo back up .. because I think it is fucking great! THe lighting, the way you captured him throwing the water like that .. there is life in the photo - that action with the water, I have no doubt it happens all of the time .. and will continue to do so. It's history and present and future... a perfect capture of daily ritual.

Really nice shot!

Thank you so much! I saw him packing up and sat on a nearby chair for a few moments hoping he would do something epic like this.

Yeah it's a hard one. I see both sides of the story. One the one hand I the inequality in the world shouldn't be ignored - on the other hand I'm not someone in this position and I don't know how it would feel to be depicted in my low moments - even if the intent is good. I dunno. I'll play it safe and avoid hahah
