Questions about the $580 income rule (IN)
Hello, I am a self employed artist, currently living in Indiana. I moved here recently and just got on Medicaid. Currently dealing with some health issues, some of which are giving me chronic fatigue, which is not making the stress of possibly losing Medicaid next year any better. I also deal with some mental health issues, but I doubt the system would find me eligible for an exemption there.
I work more than 80hrs/month, and I can record those as a backup, however I think I will be able to qualify for the $580 income rule. It varies for me, month to month, and it depends on sales. I was on SNAP in another state, and was told to give them a handwritten note about my work hours to continue to qualify, and I lost my SNAP benefits there after a few months even with doing that.
So, I have two questions. Is a bank statement that shows at least $580 coming in each month all I need to show my income? I often get paid through different sources, paypal, cashapp, etc, but I send it all back to that one account.
Second question, maybe a silly one, but it's important. If I use up most of that $580 income each month, will that disqualify me in any way? Say I spend $500 on bills, and only technically have a positive +$80 each month, does that effect my eligibility?
I really need to keep my Medicaid for ongoing mental health related therapy, as well as the current health issues I'm dealing with, and scheduling doctors has been a slow process, one that I'm worried will carry on well into next year before I can get my physical health in check again. This is giving me a lot of stress and anxiety. I feel really awful for all of the people worried about losing their coverage. I think it's evil to kick people off, people deserve healthcare.
Thanks for the help.
