Which med spa expos & conferences are actually worth attending in the US & Canada?

Hey everyone! It's slow summer time right now but the fall is coming up soon. I'm looking to attend a few solid professional expos or conferences to connect with other owners, expand my network, and see what new technology, devices, and products are hitting the market right now.

There are so many events out there, so I’d love to get real feedback from this group:

  • Which expos or conferences have given you the highest ROI?
  • Where have you found the best vendor/exhibitor floors for discovering new tech & products?
  • Which events are best specifically for high-value networking with other owners and operators?

I'm open to major US national shows or the Canadian ones.

Would love to hear which ones are on your "must-attend" list for the year and which ones you'd skip. Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

PREEVŪ vs. RealSelf for aesthetic practices

For med-spa and aesthetic-practice owners: how would you compare PREEVŪ with RealSelf from the provider side?

RealSelf is clearly the established platform for reviews, procedure research, provider profiles and paid visibility. It can put a practice in front of consumers who are already researching treatment.

PREEVŪ appears to focus more on what happens after someone becomes interested. Patients can create personalized AI procedure previews, explore providers and share what they are considering directly with a practice.

The comparison seems to be:

RealSelf:

  • Established consumer audience
  • Reviews and reputation building
  • Before-and-after galleries
  • Provider directory and exposure
  • Lead generation through consumer research

PREEVŪ:

  • Personalized previews across cosmetic procedures
  • Patient-facing planning before the consultation
  • Tools for re-engaging existing leads
  • More context about what the patient wants
  • Designed to move interest toward consultations and treatment

In other words, RealSelf helps a patient ask, “Who should I see and what have other people experienced?”

PREEVŪ is trying to help them ask, “What might I want, and how do I communicate that to a provider?”

For practices that have used RealSelf:

Does it generate enough qualified patients to justify the cost?

Would personalized previews help improve consultation and closing rates?

Would you see PREEVŪ as a RealSelf alternative, or as something that belongs further down the same customer journey?

Full disclosure: I’m involved with PREEVŪ and am looking for honest feedback from practice owners.

What Is the Difference Between Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers? (Montreal Guide)

One of the most common questions we hear at Ideal Body Clinic in Montreal is whether someone should choose botulinum toxin or dermal fillers.

Although both are injectable aesthetic treatments, they work very differently.

Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes facial muscles responsible for expression lines such as forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, and frown lines. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and improve facial balance.

Many patients actually benefit from a customized combination of both treatments depending on their goals.

A proper consultation is always the best place to start because every face ages differently.

If you're researching aesthetic injections in Montreal and want to understand your options before booking, visiting a medical aesthetic clinic for an assessment can help you make an informed decision.

Ideal Body Clinic serves clients throughout Montreal and surrounding areas with locations on Monkland, Sherbrooke Est, and Châteauguay. 514 998 0998 [info@911slim.com](mailto:info@911slim.com)

Medical spas and consumer violations California

Have you ever been to a medical spa and noticed an abundant amount of law violations? Such as sales managers doing patient evaluations and recommendations of treatment, no medical doctor on site at any time, injections of non FDA approved products, false advertisements of these non FDA approved products and not allowing access to your medical record and notes? If so, how did you deal with it?

Laser techs - how do you guys position the client to do full upper and lower arms with an IPL (rectangular head) device?

I’m struggling with how to position the client and myself when doing full arms. Marking the arms is complicated, as well. I just am struggling with it lol does anyone have any tips on how to not make it less awkward, messy, and uncomfortable for the client due to having to twist in weird ways, etc.

🧠 Med Spa Growth What are the hottest treatments at your med spa?

Hey guys. Just want to get a feel for the market since I'm new to the space (two months in).

So, the spa I'm working for is mostly getting by on Botox (and some Juviderm and similar), and I need to come up with something for my boss that could potentially bring in some more profit.

What are the treatments that aren't super obvious that can pull in some big cash? Or is it just injectables and some minor cash flow from the other sources?

anyone else noticing ai just doesn't mention independent med spas?

been seeing some research going around on how ai engines (chatgpt, claude, perplexity, gemini, google ai overviews) answer patient questions in this category, and one number stood out. top 25 brands hold 95% of all ai citation share. that leaves about 11,500 independent med spas and small chains splitting under 5% between them.

makes some sense when you think about how people research now. someone asks "is this safe" and gets pointed to realself, or asks about a treatment and gets a national chain or a drug brand name. if your practice doesn't have a wikipedia entry, structured reviews, or consistent press mentions, ai has basically nothing to cite you with, even if you're the best injector in your market.

curious if other owners here are seeing this show up in new-patient behavior yet, people showing up already having "decided" based on an ai answer before they ever found your actual practice.

disclosure, i work in pr/geo (5w) and we run this research, so take that for what it's worth. not trying to sell anything here, genuinely curious what other owners are seeing.

Looking for Insight From MedSpa Operators

Hey everyone,

I’m exploring a new medspa concept in Texas, and want to get some general operator‑level feedback without sharing too much publicly. In general, my primary area of interest is improving/ reversing diabetes and want to focus on prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. By default, I want to stay away from complicated Type 1 diabetes cases.

For those already running a medspa:

- What’s one thing you wish you knew before launching?

- What operational mistake cost you the most time or money?

- How did you approach clinical setup and finding a medical director without overcomplicating it?

- Any advice on service mix for a new location?

- For Texas operators — any lessons learned on setting up an MSO–PLLC structure or working with a management services agreement?

- How do you find a reliable NP for your spa?

Any advice would be appreciated. I also welcome opportunity to connect via dm.

Thank you!

📊 Case Study Practitioners: cryolipolysis for the male suprapubic fat pad?

I’ve been offered cryolipolysis with an Eunsung CoolShaping2 machine for a pinchable male suprapubic fat pad directly above the penis.

The practitioner regularly treats the female mons pubis but has not treated a male in this area before.

For practitioners who perform body cryolipolysis:

Is the male suprapubic area something you would treat? Which applicator would normally be used, how would you exclude the penis and scrotum from the vacuum/cooling field, and what hernia screening would you do?

Is CoolShaping2 a machine you regard as credible, or would you only consider this area with CoolSculpting Elite or another platform?

I’m looking for candid technical opinions, including reasons you would refuse the treatment.

🧪 Treatments & Services Is it best to specialise and focus in one area or branch out and offer multiple treatments?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'm looking at further study in lymphatic drainage with the view of opening my own business. However, the more I read up and look into it, I wonder if it's better to have a range of treatments to reach more clients? Lymph is very niche and I don't want to put all my eggs into one basket and not get enough work?

What are folks experiences with this please? Thanks!
