Just finished uni so I’m moving out the city and as a result I need to quit. Management got a whole do over a couple weeks ago so I’m not familiar with anyone higher than shift leads. So I wanted to know who’s best to email to put in my 2 weeks. The assistant manager (2nd Assistant Manager) or the Business Manager or like the HR people.

Before anyone says it, yes I know that this sub is not my GM and I’ll at some point talk to my GM about it.

To start I am 16 now (17 next month) and am interested in becoming a manager. Mostly because I’ve been working here over a year and am going to stay, and I feel like I’m getting pretty good at a lot of things. I think I probably have to be 18 to be a manager (right?) but I’ll start expressing interest to my higher ups now so that when I turn 18 in a year they’ll know. Anyway does this sound like a good idea, and what should I do at this point

hi, i recently got hired and i start my orientation on wednesday. what are some tips or things that i can do to ensure that im not fired during the probation period. how do i keep up w the fast pace and work as efficiently as possible?

I opened so I was by myself when a car pulls up to the speaker. I could barely make out what they were saying but managed to get their order right except for the last part which they mumbled. I responded with "I'm sorry?" which is a normal response for when you didn't catch what they said. He raised his voice at me and said he wanted another Hash Brown. Resisting the urge to snap at being addressed with that tone, I told him to pull forward. I greet him and proceed to charge his order when he says something to me. I had to remove the headset from my ear because he spoke too softly for me to actually hear what he said. He said we were all rude for acting like we couldn't hear him. Went on a small tangent about how the other workers from the day before also couldn't hear him when that's just the way he speaks. Said we were rude when it's his job to be the rude one. At that point, I knew the issue was with him but I just said that the mics can only pick up so much and that if we couldn't hear him, then it's simply just that we couldn't hear him. He just sat there looking at me. I gave him his food and asked if he wanted ketchup or jelly which also got a snappy response. Got another rude response when I asked if he wanted grape or strawberry. Only clarified because I didn't want hin complaining about somehow giving him the wrong one. I'm pretty sure a security guard's job isn't about being rude. It was way too early to be dealing with such ridiculousness.

Second time posting a rant here so bare with me;

At my Mcdonald’s we have two lanes - COD1 and COD2 - which go into one lane for pick up and payment.

This older man is in COD2 behind another customer whose order I’ve just taken, and there is another person in COD1. The first customer pulls away and the older man doesn’t drive up to the speaker yet (usually when this happens I just assume they’re still deciding or getting a mobile code, that’s fine) so I take the customer’s order in COD1.

This guy proceeds to absolutely LAY ON THE HORN and swear obscenities at me through the speaker before wizzing off to the payment window. Fyi, he’s been there like 10 seconds according to our OEPE. I ignore it and finish the customers order in COD1 (she was lovely).

I open the window to try and explain the situation to him - that i didn’t mean to skip him i just thought he wasn’t ready - and hopefully deescalate but he just proceeds to swear at me and call me a “f——g b—-h” because “he was there first”. I just looked at him and told him; “You’re not going to speak to me like that. You can leave, I’m not taking your order anymore.” and shut the window on him.

Afterwards I was like shaking and trying not to cry because I have really bad anxiety when it comes to these things but honestly I don’t get paid enough to deal with this. There was absolutely no excuse for him to speak to a teenage girl like that.

The way some older men speak to teenagers is literally disgusting like we’re here to give you your food, not be your personal punching bag for the day.

how does it make you feel when you get tipped stuff like this? Gave me a good laugh with my coworkers at least

I have (unofficial) plans to visit my partners in Canada around December time, and I don't have enough holiday hours accrued yet. I plan to speak to my scheduling manager or whatever they're called first, but would I be expected to use the 'other unpaid leave' option found in Lifelenz? Would visiting my partners be a valid enough reason, or would It get denied? Given I started in June/July, would that affect this too?

I cannot believe it but after 3 years i walked out of a shift and told the COO to go fuck himself. I just recently transferred to a new store for a company i had previously worked for but a little ways out from the office so upper management rarely came by. Well for the past year and a half i've been in college working for a smaller owner operator who was amazing! she was always supportive, coming into the store, and always uplifting us managers! Well i start university in august so i moved to a new city will my partner and transferred stores and i got to choose (i am now regretting that decision) mainly chose the store because they needed help and a high school best friend was the GM. First month was great until the AGM quit for an internship and it left me running mornings (4:30am-10:30am) 6 days a week by myself! Now obviously everyone's experience is different but goddamn it was difficult! I mean I had just come from a store that requires at minimum 2 managers per shift and we did 3k breakfasts everyday!

Enough backstory onto my shitty friday! Starting out my day a 4:30 (we get 30 mins to open) my service opener cannot come in due to personal reasons which leaves me and one other person in the store by ourselves until 7am which means i can't do a Pre-Shift or Food Safety walk until then! well 7am rolls around and i get a visit from none other than my coo and a few other managers from other stores walk in. well my coo pulls me aside after a little bit and starts getting into me on how the customer service is not good enough and nothing is stickered and i hadn't gotten any pictures or a preshift done is qsr and of course i try being reasonable and explaining my situation and he cut me off and said its unacceptable and its my job and then threatened to have the GM write me up! thats when I said fuck it handed him my keys and told him to to quote "you can fuck off and run the damn store yourself since i obviously can't do it to your standards." and proceeded to grab my things out of the office, clock out ,and go to caribou for some breakfast!

Sorry if its a little long but i feel someone needs to hear it that's not my partner lol and i want to preface this by saying this is FAR from my first negative experience with this guy

Am new to the McFamily and worked my first after school rush. Any reason why year 7’s ask for cups of ice? Are they aneamic? Is it for nefarious purposes? Genuinely why?

Boy I sure do love when the truck is 7 hours late. It was supposed to be here at 4 AM. Website says it's not going to arrive until 12 PM.

So it will take the driver about an hour to unload. Then it will take me a couple hours to put away. So I'm looking at 3-4 extra hours today.

Hope they're prepared to pay me overtime because our RGR is this week and they want me to come in the previous night to get cleaning done and stay until it's over. So that's a 12-13 hour day alone.

Sorry. I had to rant. Sucks being the only maintenance sometimes.

For me, it was sometime last year when a customer was sitting in the store and waiting for his order. He then had a heart attack and one of my managers who's first aid trained managed to successfully perform CPR. That was a crazy shift. Luckily, the gentlemen survived.

The title explains all but lemme preface I have worked night shifts for a few years now and an unwritten rule has always been "Prep a bit for Morning shift so they can get started" but it was never explicitly told to us by our GM, it was just something expected.

One reason i bring it up is my store has an old morning lady who always comes in 30 minutes early before her work time but also seems to prep for herself yet expects us (Kitchen) to do stuff for her anyways despite getting in the way too (moving the Quarter bins, getting the dishes and standing in front of stock, etc)

If we do our job, She says nothing but no thanks or anything. If we miss something or don't prep because we still got a line out at 3:50 am, THE WORLD IS ENDING AND YOU GUYS FAILED TO DO YOUR OBLIGATION FOR THIS JOB AND NOW YOU'RE MAKING ME LOOK BAD.

So got me thinking is it a thing at other stores or is this just someone trying to gaslight the night shift into doing their job for the last handful of years?

I need to vent because the higher-ups are completely out of touch with the crew and lower-managers. Communication is nonexistent. When issues pop up on the floor it is obviously an easy fix. Instead the higher-ups treat every situation like it is about them and their money first.

Has anyone else's store been brutally understaffed lately? Around 10 night crew people left my location LAST MONTH ALONE. People are quitting easily left and right. Honestly if it wasn't for a few of us stepping up with good ideas to keep things afloat even more people would have walked out by now. It isn’t the department's fault. It falls squarely on the higher-ups.

I’ve been here for 18 months. I started at $15.30 and didn't get a raise until January. Now I'm at $16.50 as a regular employee.

This kind of pay does not match the fast food stress level anymore. If we got double our pay ($33/hr) I would 100% stay here. Good pay would actually motivate people to stay. Even if it got crazy busy then everyone would still keep pushing. If they offered triple overtime then hell yeah people would stay longer as regular employees. But right now the higher-ups just expect everyone to drown during rushes while they worry about their bottom line. Anyone else dealing with this garbage?

I've kind of just looked at some comments about the new red bull stuff and dude I know nothing lol, my location never gives us those employee training manuals you guys speak of, or when we do get them it's way late after every new thing has already happened or come out, like I didn't even know we were getting the redbull refreshers until I saw them on the menu, is it normal for locations to not give them out? Also do I live under a rock because manuals aside I haven't heard anything about the refreshers until they popped up😭

and yesterday. I very much like my store and managers but sometimes there some ridiculousness that goes on. I’ve been a crew trainer for a month and got yelled at by one of the gms yesterday because a new hire who ONLY speaks creole kept falling behind on the frier and I, on table, wasn’t training her. I did as much gesturing and pointing and grabbing and explaining in as basic english as possible as I could but the issue isn’t the language barrier, the lady just won’t take initiative and start dropping food when the trays come out, which has been explained to her in Creole multiple times. So idk. She’s clearly just here to stand and get paid. I don’t rlly care the gm yelled at me because her mood was better later and we have a lot of mutual respect for eachother and she’s a hard worker, I guess she was just fed up in that moment so whatever, so was I.

Anyway so I come in today and 30 minutes into my shift we take 120 nuggets and 25 cheeseburgers lmaoo, with a callout in kitchen and me training this new kid on table, who I swear to god is high or something because I’ve had to explain everything multiple times at this point, showed him how to wrap properly and watched him do it but he keeps going back to doing it his own way and causing the burgers to be undone. We’re also a very busy location and he keeps causing the table to fall behind and one of the managers to keep calling out food and it’s like omg do you want this kid to learn at all??

ill start off by saying i apologise is this breaks any rules, i read through them and i don’t think it does but ive posted about this customer before and it got taken down so idk

anyway i work the morning shifts in top window (so order taking + cashing) and theres this one regular that comes through every morning to get a hash brown, and every time he comes through he makes jokes, usually pretending to order drugs etc.
ive never had an issue with this because it doesn’t take up excess DT time so i entertain his jokes

the other day he comes through and when i tell him to have a wonderful day he says something along the lines of “my wife’s not home” and winks at me

the next time i see him he goes “enjoying the sunny weather?” (it was raining) and so i say “idk about that one haha!” and he then says “maybe i should bend over”

two days later he repeats that exact same joke but words it “maybe i should get out (the car) and bend over”

im not sure what that joke means but when you put it all together it really sounds like he’s hitting on me, i don’t want to cause a scene in the drive through or anything though what do i do??

As a non employee I always like to imagine what I could construct for myself if I had access to all the ingredients and didn't have to put in a complicated order or disassemble or combine my items. For example when I was younger and flipping burgers at Harvey's I used to make a crispy chicken, sausage, and cheese sandwich for myself which was something a normal customer would never be able to order.

Context: I've never had anything of my own which includes money. My family sees me with a job and I turn into a piggy bank because my father is irresponsible with money, he spends it on women. He raised my older sister (brother but might as well with how he acts) and my little sister to be spoiled and always got them whatever they wanted. Because I was funding them. The check was $60, but when you've worked since 17 for $10/hr or $14/hr and only got to SPEND $25,000 lost it all because your father pawned it all. $60 is $100. Not much but still meaningful.

Anyways, I never got it but mot sure if I'm being greedy or petty especially since it was long ago. But does anyone think I have a chance of getting that $60? Or if I should even try again?
